There are only 3 fights left for Canelo at 168: Charlo, Benavidez and GGG

I don't see Canelo fighting GGG again at all, I do think it will be Charlo for May and Benavidez for Sep, however I wouldn't be shocked if they fight Benavidez on May.

David would be the hardest fight of all these 3 as I consider him a relentless swarmer, Charlo is a better boxer and is probably more heavy handed but he fights at a pace which Canelo likes, Benavidez would be similar to what GGG brought, the difference would be how good Benavidez chin is, if he can't take it back like GGG he will get stopped against Canelo, I don't know but hearing so much trainers talk wonders about Benavidez tells me he will be Canelo toughest fight since GGG.

Benavidez has an extremely thin resume. It is slim pickings at 168, which why Canelo should move up.

Benavidez’s resume is so weak, I do not see Canelo getting any credit by his critics if he were to win. Even those who say Canelo would not fight him/will duck him. They will just say he was green and untested. Is he? I think so. 24 years old, no elite wins yet.

So, I would agree with Canelo critics if he fights him and schools him: You beat/exposed a guy we knew nothing of at the elite level. Dirrell, Medina, Love are not elite. Problem is, unlike Canelo critics, I do not flip flop. If I say boxer(A) is scared of another boxer(B), but the boxer I accused for being scared, steps up and fights boxer(B), I would just keep my mouth shut and let it go, not be stubborn or a sore loser.

Also, by 24, Canelo had fought a few elite fighters of their time: Mayweather, Trout, and Lara.

Canelo may even KO Benavidez.

Canelo should fight one or all of Beterbiev, Bivol, and Smith Jr.

For the time being, Benavidez is a waste of a fight for Canelo. He gains nothing.

What you mean aside from becoming the youngest ever super middleweight champion and smashing dirrell better than anyone previously without seeming to break sweat. The thing is his resume is thin. But then again so is Jaron Ennis’. If you’ve been watching boxing long enough you can see talent. He has great footwork for a big guy. He’s not remotely static like some people suggest, he just chooses to fight like that when he knows he’s got a guy beat. If you actually watch him carefully he usually spends the first round or two on his toes getting his range and feeling out his opponent - unusual things for a young fighter. He has a superb jab, possibly the best in the division. He’s got good power in both hands. Very quick combinations, good sense of range, reads opponents quickly, good timing, has toured the US training visiting other gyms to gain experience off the best since a young age. Etc etc etc. But then you have to have a fundamental understanding of what you’re looking at to see most of these things in a young fighter - much easier to just ignore it and claim he’s crap just to be a troll and highlight your own ineptness.

I suggest anyone who does, go on utube and watch what pro fighters say about Canelo V Benavidez match up. Literally ALL of them say its a very tough fight and some like Trout believe David beats him and that Canelo should just avoid fighting him because he has no path to victory vs that combination of size, speed, power and aggression.

I'll go further, I have a list of reasons why Canelo doesn't need to fight anyone. They should just give him wins and let him retire...so we can FINALLY get out of the waiting line and back to fighters actually proving themselves in the ring.

For the record, Bivol may not be able to make 168 anymore and last I heard Canello team is insisting upon Bivol making 162lbs which suggests they'll do the same with Beterbiev and Smith.

Benavidez's can still make 168, he's young and has the size, power and ability to crack from outside and blast on the inside and for that reason he's a very bad match-up for Canelo's smallish size and style. Benavidez may not have a belt but he would put plant down and would be considered by every expert to be Canelo's most difficult opponent of his entire career. Just ask Floyd, he'll tell you the same.
