It’s baffling of those that keep pushing this agenda of Benavidez getting Canelo next. Lets not forget that it was Benavidez who lost his belt and repeatedly acted as undisciplined and unprofessional. It’s these behaviors that cost him this opportunity and being stripped of his title. Benavidez did not look impressive in his last fight with Ellis. He’s too stiff, no head movement, doesn’t cut off the ring, and keeps a high guard leaving the body open. He does throw good combinations and keeps the pressure on you since he’s a come forward guy but that’s about it. Benavidez needs more work to improve. I’m willing to bet that if Canelo gets a TKO or KO a lot of people are going to say Benavidez was a bum or he’s still young and it was too soon. This fight tomorrow, what does it prove to convince people or even Canelo, who probably doesn’t even watch tv or spend time on social media, that Benavidez is ready for him? Supposedly he wanted the Plant fight but now it’s Canelo for the obvious reasons which is to fight for undisputed and get that big payday. You got to earn that shot by fighting guys in the top tier and not C level fighters. In hindsight, the super middleweight division is just not interesting enough.

Charlo needs to at least make a fight at 168 first. I'd love Charlo-Dirrell as a co-feature to Canelo-Benavides with the winner getting the next shot.

I wouldn't feel so confident If i was David Benavidez because Canelo Alvarez is known for ducking and dodging live opponents with catchweights, rehydration clauses and WBC franchise titles.

David doesn’t want Canelo you can tell by his body language just like witty Charlo it’s almost like life gets ****** out of them when you mention a canelo fight. David is just saying what he think people want to hear. He’s better off going after Betterbieve David can beat him.

Benavidez’s resume is so weak, I do not see Canelo getting any credit by his critics if he were to win. Even those who say Canelo would not fight him/will duck him. They will just say he was green and untested. Is he? I think so. 24 years old, no elite wins yet.

So, I would agree with Canelo critics if he fights him and schools him: You beat/exposed a guy we knew nothing of at the elite level. Dirrell, Medina, Love are not elite. Problem is, unlike Canelo critics, I do not flip flop. If I say boxer(A) is scared of another boxer(B), but the boxer I accused for being scared, steps up and fights boxer(B), I would just keep my mouth shut and let it go, not be stubborn or a sore loser.

Also, by 24, Canelo had fought a few elite fighters of their time: Mayweather, Trout, and Lara.

            Canelo may even KO Benavidez.

Canelo should fight one or all of Beterbiev, Bivol, and Smith Jr.

For the time being, Benavidez is a waste of a fight for Canelo. He gains nothing.

I'll go further, I have a list of reasons why Canelo doesn't need to fight anyone. They should just give him wins and let him retire...so we can FINALLY get out of the waiting line and back to fighters actually proving themselves in the ring.

For the record, Bivol may not be able to make 168 anymore and last I heard Canello team is insisting upon Bivol making 162lbs which suggests they'll do the same with Beterbiev and Smith.

Benavidez's can still make 168, he's young and has the size, power and ability to crack from outside and blast on the inside and for that reason he's a very bad match-up for Canelo's smallish size and style. Benavidez may not have a belt but he would put plant down and would be considered by every expert to be Canelo's most difficult opponent of his entire career. Just ask Floyd, he'll tell you the same.

Canelo will always have options as the cash cow.
He could easily fight Charlo at 168. If DAZN and Hearn come correct he can retire GGG at 168.
He makes just as much if not more on either of those fights then he does with Benevidez.
He’s not tied to one promoter or network so he makes the fights he wants.

Benavidez did want Plant but Plant wasn't having it. Plant knew he was in line for Canelo and Canelo knew Plant was there for the taking, how convenient. Hell, even I knew outcome. Didn't you?

If I'm not mistaken, every single expert that was asked said the Benavidez would be a much more difficult fight for Canelo. I know Canelo doesn't watch TV but it may be possible that one of his team heard that every single expert on national tv felt that Benavidez was a more difficult fight? Just sayn.

                  That is the correct answer.

I expect the fight will be waved in front of Golovkin (assuming he can win his next fight which he may not) because he's the only guy to match Canelo and at this stage GGG is the most beatable.

What you mean aside from becoming the youngest ever super middleweight champion and smashing dirrell better than anyone previously without seeming to break sweat. The thing is his resume is thin. But then again so is Jaron Ennis’. If you’ve been watching boxing long enough you can see talent. He has great footwork for a big guy. He’s not remotely static like some people suggest, he just chooses to fight like that when he knows he’s got a guy beat. If you actually watch him carefully he usually spends the first round or two on his toes getting his range and feeling out his opponent - unusual things for a young fighter. He has a superb jab, possibly the best in the division. He’s got good power in both hands. Very quick combinations, good sense of range, reads opponents quickly, good timing, has toured the US training visiting other gyms to gain experience off the best since a young age. Etc etc etc. But then you have to have a fundamental understanding of what you’re looking at to see most of these things in a young fighter - much easier to just ignore it and claim he’s crap just to be a troll and highlight your own ineptness.

I reckon Canelo will fight him in the next couple of fights - as Benavidez points out, he’ll only get better if Canelo makes him wait and time is on his side. Plus it makes sense to make Beterbiev wait just like Canelo did with Golovkin as he’ll get progressively easier to beat as he ages.
