Well with regards to Hopkins point, if Canelo fights at Cruiser the big question is how much weight will he risk to fight there while scoping out any possible return to 168. It could mean that Canelo goes to 168 again doing so, with 175 being the minimum. OR, Canelo adds very little weight to compete at Cruiser and just RISKS everything on Defensive maneuvers. Cruisers are HUGE! Canelo would be fighting guys 30lbs difference on fight night. Can't see Canelo bigger than he already is if he wants to perform tip top. Yeah Canelo is stocky and huge for his height, but if he comes in looking like Vinny Paz vs RJJ at Cruiser it could be very risky on his gas tank.

BUT I'm down if Canelo fights at Cruiser while being 30lbs less in weight than his competitor because it goes back to OLD SCHOOL fighting days. Besides, if David Haye got in there with Valuev then I see no problem attempting Haye's point of view that he would be significantly faster than the bigger guy. Just cruise 12 rounds being defensively safe as he did against GGG. I don't see any Cruisers with the Ring IQ or athleticism that GGG had, so everything's possible.

IF Canelo does all of this, it could be a wake up call for fighters not worrying so much to drain to make weights, regardless if he did it himself.

Too bad for him Parker is not a WBO hw champ anymore. Parker is a little *****, i don`t think he has enough power to trouble Canelo.
Samoan's are durable as fook man. It's in their genetics. That would be a very difficult fight for Canelo. Remember that HW's won't mind going for broke and walking down Canelo. It's basically sparring for them, realistically. Different resistance. The spectacle would be Canelo's defense in such fights, not his power, which I don't think can trouble most ELITE HW's.

We've seen Canelo hurt at 154 and 160. Shouldn't jabs be knocking him out at cruiserweight? You can say he's less weight drained at higher weights but the reason he weight drained to 154 and 160 in the first place is because it gave him an advantage in size, which helps with punch resistance as much or more than not being weight drained, lol. Look at Margarito with his iron chin from draining down to 147. So none of it really adds up. But Pacquiao's chin and power also get better as he went up in weight fighting bigger guys. It turns out being a cash cow is the biggest skill in boxing, and allows you to develop unlikely, illogical abilities whenever it is convenient to the business of boxing. Given that, forget cruiserweight, that's boring. Let's see Canelo vs Wilder at heavyweight! America vs Mexico. There's your PPV megafight! You're welcome! It was right in front of you this whole time you just didn't see it!

Canelo vs Wilder. Wilder could barely hit Fury clean, how will he hit Canelo clean? No middleweight or 168 has hit Canelo just right in like the last 15 fights (another magical cashbow ability), well really never but let's not go there, but the point is so what chance does Wilder have to do it in just one fight if much more skilled opponents could not do it over many fights?

Canelo vs Wilder at heavyweight. That's the "fight."

I think he cleans out ufc and might even be able to take out the paul bros as well, maybe

I did not know Hopkins was that punchy. The top guys at 175 have 10 times more power than Plant. The guys at 200 have about 20 times more power. Plant fought more like a sparring partner than a "champ" and Canelo was impotent most of the fight. Same with Saunders and Yildirim. Very light touches. Canelo was a combined 75-1 favorite over his last 3 fights and made about 75 million dollars.

I would have to agree. Sure, 175 pounders have more pop, but they won't be able to catch him flush with anything big. That's what unravels just about anyone in these divisions at this point. Specially slow and plodding Beterviev

James Toney at 168 would be a great fight for Canelo. Toney went from 160 to 200 and beat heavyweights like Holyfield. Canelo beats them all at 175.

Seems kinda mental to be talking about Canelo at what 5'8 competing at cruiserweight. Beterbiev is the fight I want to see, Bivol would be good too. Got a few middleweights that he can offer a shot at 168 to too.

The only way I can see him competing at Cruiserweight though is if he repeats what he did when he first went to middleweight and used his negotiating position to pull people down to little over the weight class below. Technically, 176lbs is cruiserweight. But I'm not interested in seeing him drain the top CW's just so he can say he won a title at cruiserweight. Unless he's going to fight at at least 190, just stay at 175 max. Given his frame, becoming the man and staying the man at 175 would be a fantastic achievement anyway.
