Rolando Romero out, Gervonta Davis to face Isaac Cruz on December 5th

Two days after news broke that Rolando Romero would “likely” be pulled from his December 5th fight with Gervonta Davis due to numerous accusations of sexual assault, a Showtime spokesman has officially confirmed “Rolly’s” exit. Mike Coppinger reports that IBF #2 contender Isaac Cruz has agreed to step in, though nothing has yet been announced.

This is honestly about as good a replacement as you could find on a month’s notice. “Pitbull” (22-1-1, 15 KO) was already in line for a shot at Teofimo Lopez and boasts the grit, aggression, and willingness to get egregiously dirty that Davis (25-0, 24 KO) has yet to encounter in his pro career. His 53-second annihilation of Diego Magdaleno and arguably disqualification-worthy performance against Francisco Vargas are testament to that.

Not saying that the mega-punching Davis shouldn’t be a comfortable favorite, just that Cruz is a hell of a lot more interesting than your average late-notice replacement, even if the fight does lack the deeply personal flavor of the original matchup. I’m down to watch two vicious little buggers go at it.

I don't know if it's true or not but Romero had to be removed once she went to the police because this is now a criminal investigation which separates it from a normal he said she said cash grab lawsuit. Honestly if you are just trying to get paid why target a nobody fighter like him who is not a star and hasn't made any money yet. If it is a cash grab the timing doesn't add up because you would wait until after the PPV for him to get paid before you go after him instead of try to stop him from getting paid. There are over a half dozen other females claiming the same thing 1 is working with the police. My gut says it's not about money this is about a scorned woman and Romero has always come of as extremely creepy. Whether he did it or not he's not a big enough star or opponent for promoters to deal with this drama.

Put the blame back on her and see how things fall in place. Women are NOT innocent but we seem to render them "helpless" and in distress when they do dumb stuff (e.g., become single mothers, choosing the wrong men, losing their kids to the system, not able to pay her bills or adequately care for their child/children).

Stop with this sexist rhetoric. Obviously yes some do for money/clout, but that is a small percentage. Vast majority of women do not lie when it comes to these allegations. In fact, you can argue it’s underreported.
