Those rights from Dulorme didn't even faze him anyway, so to me that just shows that Boots has a decent chin on top of everything else.
    Awesome avatar. Let's Go Brandon!

And Crawford has yet to fight one elite fighter at 34.

He has also been visibly hurt by a small Gamboa and was put on wobbly legs vs Kavaliouskas.

He is extremely reckless. The angles in which he throws his punches, and how open his chin is while he is swinging, that recklessness won’t fly at the top level.

I think in both his last two fights, his defensive flaws were quite clear.

You can tell that when he loses, it won’t be by decision. He’s going to lose by getting caught with by a fighter who stays poised, picks his shots, weathers the storm, and cracks him with a good punch. Especially when he fights guys closer to his weight.

Not comparing him to Floyd obviously, but from what I can see Ennis has been close to flawless so far.

We'll find out more when he steps up, like everyone else.
That’s pretty silly as Mayweather was damn near untouchable in his prime. He really started getting with harder shots at 140+, where he was outweighed in every single fight. Even a small welter like Zab Judah, had a few pounds on Mayweather on fight night.

Ennis is not close to flawless. His defense is very poor. He is currently winning based on offense. The guy gets hit by some really ****** punches, repeatedly. His size is bailing him out of these ****** punches. Someone closer to his size will hit him with something that he will feel.

I know, but that's not what the magazines were saying back then at 130 and 135, believe it or not.

In fact many of those "experts" were saying he's wide open, chin in the air, not great defensively and a KO waiting to happen (Words to that effect, I'm paraphrasing)

Basically the things you're saying now for Ennis (Again not comparing him to Floyd)

But I do think you're being very harsh. I think he's shown a lot of potential.

If Ennis was a stock, I'd be a seller right now. I remember when everyone and their mom was big on Berlanga, and then when he got 'exposed' everyone said they knew he ****** all along.

I think Boots is a really good prospect, but I don't think he is a finished article yet. Some people seem to think he is already the real deal, and if he reads those press clippings, I think he's due for a bad night.

We will see though. He looks pretty talented, but I see some of the same holes in his game as I saw with Berlanga. I rate him pfp above Berlanga and would have before Berlanga's recent fights

              -----

People, even supposed hardcore fans on this board, do this all the time. They rate you to the moon when you roll over a guy you're carefully matched with, and then when you have a real step up fight and 'struggle' they say you suck.

We have to lower our expectations nowadays. It’s rare to find a fighter nowadays who’s both elite offensively and defensively, Canelo might be the exception, but I wouldn’t quite say his defense is elite. Ennis has plenty of time to sharpen his defense. The higher level of opponents he faces, the more defensively responsible he’ll fight. I think once he fights a mauler with a great chin, he’ll definitely approach that fight more cautiously.

Then they are dumb, if true. Mayweather was untouchable.

Can you please link me to these articles?

The defense between prime Mayweather and prime Ennis are like night and day. It’s not even close. In the Lipinets fight, Ennis makes Mayweather appear like Pernell Whitaker if you compare their defense.

I am just not convinced at all.

Ennis looks good and all, throwing punches with the explosiveness and quickness of Roy Jones, but with the defense of Juan Manuel Lopez.

Just cos he's been touched a few times it doesn't mean he's gonna be KO'd man. When he's fighting higher level guys I'm sure he will be more cautious. For me I'm sold on Ennis, he looks more impressive than Crawford to me, more effortless and technically clean, more finesse and swag. Of course we need to see if he's got the grit to go with the skills, but we will find out in due time.

I think at this point Spence and Crawford both beat Ennis. Ugas also probably. he is too unexperienced to step up.
