Oh and I'm pretty sure dirrel and froch were in a tournament and dirrels next fight gave him neurological problems which hindered him fighting at top level ever again

Boxers today aren't cut from the same cloth as their predecessors. Back then they used to fight for glory and truly wanted to prove that they were the best, the money was just a side reward.

Nowadays boxers don't fight each other because of "How much PPV he makes" or "nobody knows who he is" and ****** **** like that. Boxers are content with making millions to beat up C level fighters instead of taking risks and leaving a lasting legacy in the sport.

It’s greed tbh. A lot of it comes from promotional and network politics. Social media has made it 10x worse too.

One thing I will say though, money has always been the motivation for like 99.9999% of fighters in history.
