Caleb Plant always fights outside, he is not an inside fighter and will not turn into an inside fighter with 1 training camp. What ever he learns about inside fighting in the training camp, will be immediately abandoned as soon Canelo lands the first big punch to the body or head. He will get in survival mode and his closest thing to victory will be that he only lost by decision.
In order for Plant to become a formidable inside fighter and “bully” Canelo, he has to use that style in several fights. Perfect it. This guy is going to go in there vs the #1 P4P fighter and supposedly “smother” his power and fight on the inside, for the first time in his career.
Smothering and being slippery inside was part of Andre Ward’s style. It’s a style he perfected. He makes it look easy, but it’s a difficult style to pull off. Canelo throws a huge uppercut to a prime 168 Ward, Ward had a high possibility of slipping it, or making it not land at full impact. Same uppercut can catch Plant square on the chin, break his jaw, and possibly put him to sleep.
Lastly, Ward had some pop behind his punches, that would show at the highest level. Ward was not a big puncher but you can see his top opponents felt his power punches when they landed flush. While Plant seemingly looks like he is a bigger puncher than Ward due to their KO ratio, Ward was at 168lbs when it was full of iron chinned boxers. Froch, Kessler, Abraham, Bika and before Ward KO’ed Kovalev, no one was ever coming close to KO’ing him.
Unless Ward can go back in time and train Plant starting from 8 years old, Ward’s going to be little to no help.
