Why didn't Wilder just take a knee when Fury was leaning on him

if you watch Sumo guys you can learn a lot because Sumo somewhat contributes to Ju Jitsu. The thing is in Sumo Fury would be the envy of any wrestler because thats the position you want... two things have to happen: The first is to get lower than your opponent if you really want to resist the lean... the second is, use the hands to stop the person from getting the position, before you lock in with them. Specifically you have to get your hips lower...I thought about this too and view it as a legit tactic against much bigger men leaning on you, go to your knee, point out what your opponent is doing. Don't know how much energy it takes to constantly go down, but I think it compensate whatever energy you spend fighting against weight of an opponent.
Sumo guys practice these techniques religiously as it is foundational to their art. I think boxers could learn a few tricks
