Why didn't Wilder just take a knee when Fury was leaning on him

Regarding Furys leaning on opponent tactic, I am unsure why fighters that Fury leans on do not just go to the canvas, being put to the canvas by anything other than opponents fists is illegal, nowhere in rule book does it say you are required to support weight of your opponent.

I thought about this too and view it as a legit tactic against much bigger men leaning on you, go to your knee, point out what your opponent is doing. Don't know how much energy it takes to constantly go down, but I think it compensate whatever energy you spend fighting against weight of an opponent.

Because he’s a warrior, taking a knee for anything is the cowards way out

        Too ******.

No reason for him to be bending at the waist in the 1st place.

taking a knee might be better than supporting Fury's massive weight, but it still requires getting back up, a bit like doing squats and we know Wilder skips leg days every day.

I’m a fan of Wilder, but a bigger fan of boxing.

Not sure why Wilder didn’t take a knee and let the bigger man lean on him and headlock him??

I think Furry got enough ref warnings to warrant a point deduction.

It was a great fight, and like all great fights will be scrutinized by fans of both boxers.

            nice post

Really...the best counter for someone leaning on you to excess is the low blow. I've yet to see a ref not dismiss any complaints about it from the guy doing the leaning because he's leaning on him. It forces the ref to put an end to it, and it's a great equalizer.

Why did the ref stop warning Fury after the 2nd and just allow it?

If you notice Wilder did that and that is exactly what he should do. He did it when Fury was on his neck. Wilder also needed to get a Ju Jitsu man on his team... Old style. When someone tries to lean on you, you don't resist, you turn like a door, splay out a bit and take a break... Try leaning on air a few times and see how much you want to lean out your opponent lol.
