I thought GGG retired, didn't he? can't recall watching him fight once in the last 3+ years. Canelo's been on a damn tear!

GGG beat Canelo convincingly in the first bout and reached a draw in the second. The first one was scored a draw only because one judge went primate fecal, lending a lot credence to the accusation that the "powers that be" in boxing will never let a money man like Canelo lose a fight.
I don't believe Canelo is scared of GGG at all, but I do think he's a little bit embarrassed that a a much older fighter made him look so bad. I'll be very surprised if Canelo accepts a third bout with GGG prior to Golovkin turning 40... or 40-plus-plus. Clearly GGG has a generous living space inside Canelo's head, and that must be a very satisfying place of residence for Golovkin.
As for who GGG has fought since Canelo, Dereyanchenko comes to mind -- and Canelo doesn't want any part of that guy! That fight was brutal for both men, although after the fight, Derevyanchenko looked like he'd been run over by a truck. What other aspiring fighters out there really want to risk their records by taking on GGG? Charlo comes to mind.... Any other guys whom Canelo could respect? (I didn't think so.)
The waiting game clearly disfavors GGG, however. He suffers from the malady that eventually afflicts all aging fighters, which is a hesitancy about pulling the trigger. In the second Canelo bout as well as the Derevyanchenko bout, GGG often closed the distance and covered up, waiting for his opponent to make a move so he could counterpunch. A much younger GGG closed the distance by throwing several massive punches and forcing his opponent to cover up. That change of habits really means it's time for GGG to start looking for another career as the kryptonite age of 40 draws nigh.Last edited by Bro. Steve; 10-14-2021, 07:29 AM.BustedKnuckles

He's been perpetually shitty since losing to Canelo both times.
And let's be honest here, a fight with anybody with a pulse could be the last for GGG so, why not patiently wait to get KO'd by Canelo for one last payday?

Canelo is right in that GGG has been having unimpressive fights of late. But let's see who Canelo is fighting when he is pushing 40.
If GGG whipped Yldrim, how much would that improve the picture? Not much I'd wager.

Done none since which is shame for if ggg had any juice like used to then hed beaten a charlo. If can beat jacobs u can beat charlo who didnt want the jacobs smoke mentioned his name got confronted then got silent. 1 win 1 draw ggg why not taken that 3 fight sure now would lose but only bag ggg would get. This aged ggg done doesnt beat anyone serious probably should fight andrade at best no charlo n no canelo. Ppl a prime ggg beat or couldve. Fight andrade if win rematch sergy then retire if win both enhanced legacy

And yeah, ggg barely beat Derveyenchenko just like canelo barely beat ggg. Actually I think Derveyenchenko did better vs ggg than canelo did. But you’re right Both ggg and canelo should be asked why they’ve avoided Andrade and charlo. Ggg never mentions their names and canelo turned down offers to face both.
