  • Comments Thread For: Teddy Atlas Reacts To Wilder's Refusal To Shake Hands With Tyson Fury

Veteran trainer Teddy Atlas is not critical of Deontay Wilder refusing to shake hands with Tyson Fury last Saturday night. In a sensational heavyweight fight, Fury retained his WBC heavyweight title when he knocked Wilder out in the eleventh round of their trilogy fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Only wilder haters are making this a topic. I watch the fight at Bally’s Fan Duel AC and didn’t hear one person say “it would’ve been a better fight if wilder shook fury’s hand at the end” smh Wilder isn’t the first and won’t be the last to not shake hands.

Anybody crying about wilder not shaking his hand is soft. Not only was the guy out of it clearly, there’s a reason it was a dogfight. Because both men are dogs. Wilder with every ounce of his being wanted to beat Fury. It’s gonna take time for him to accept that as hard as he tried he couldn’t do it.

Atlas' claim about concussion is a reasonable point and I think regardless after a violent encounter when a fighter is exhausted, it's probably not top of his list of priorities to shake hands with the guy that just knocked him out.

At the same time, it does fit into the context of Wilder being a terrible loser after the second fight, nor is shaking hands and showing some grace in defeat something that has been dreamt up in the wake of this fight by Wilder haters.

To claim that only Wilder haters care about good sportmanship is flat out ridiculous. I can assure you, people not liking sore losers did not begin with Wilder.

Who cares if he doesn’t shake Fury’s hand.

Wilder can't shake the hand of the man who exposed his lies. The result was the same as the second fight. There were no egg weights. There was no drugging. It was all excuses. He just can't admit that Fury is the better boxer.

I don't really think that this is a issue.

Teddy ur an astute boxing guy and u are good at talking about certain things but sometimes u sound ridiculous. Wilder made excuses galore the 1st fight. Add that to his refusal to shake Fury's hand and that adds up to a sore loser. He was so narcissistic and delusional to begin with that he is unable to process getting his ass whipped. He'd rather push lies and BS than to admit he lost fair and square. Its doubtful he can ever lose gracefully. Just like Trump

Atlas makes a good point about Joshua being too accepting of his loss.

ummm..did he ever “accept” the beatdown(loss) from the 2nd fight? How much time does Wilder need - years?
