"I Remember there was one punch he threw where it looked like a pitcher was winding up to throw a ball, and threw a body shot then it was getting a bit heated,"
You guys give way too much notice to gym spars , the fight is what its all about and gym work can be so off depending on different stages off camp , that last week when the peaking takes place is when it all comes together , right before the peaking process is generally when a fighter is at there worst and can seem a little sluggish as its the time of most grueling workloads .
If they did that then they couldn't lie about how insanly exciting a Peterson-Mayweather sparring sesion was. Can anyone recall any Peterson fight that was as exciting as this sparring session is being made out to have been? Now throw in defensive floyd in the mix. I call bull****.
Well to me it sounds like both stories can be true. Peterson went in there and did his thing and made it very competitive, things got heated, they both wanted one more round, Peterson took his headgear off, they got face to face, and someone from Peterson's team broke it up leading to Floyd seeing it as they backed down and didn't want it no more and that's what led to the first story of Mayweather making Peterson quit.
If you read it well, they both could be right with the "Peterson quitting" and "Mayweather being woked over by Peterson" both being the special effects that was added to the whole scene.
By Rick Reeno - The gym **** in Las Vegas are buzzing. Not about the upcoming fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez. And not about the November clash between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto. Two weeks after it happened, the local gym **** and numerous Las Vegas insiders are still chatting, without rest, about the sparring session between Mayweather and undefeated junior welterweight Lamont Peterson. Then I began to dig which led me to team Peterson who said Peterson kicked Floyds ass! OMG! Shocking..
How about we will never know what took place, Id assume Peterson who has never taken on an even slightly elite fighter in his life wouldnt have beaten down Floyd.
