Comments Thread For: Fury-Wilder 3: WBC To Order Mandatory Title Defense For Winner, Barring Undisputed Championship Fight Secured

The winner of this weekend's heavyweight trilogy clash will leave the ring with marching orders already in place. The WBC is prepared to order a mandatory title defense for whomever prevails in the third fight between England's Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 21KOs) and Alabama's Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41KOs). The pair of heavyweight behemoths collide this Saturday on Pay-Per-View from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, with Fury attempting the first defense of the WBC and lineal championship.

After this massive fight, I’m sure Fury will be looking forward to this kind of easy mismatch defense next.

Assuming Fury beats Wilder again, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fury-Usyk and AJ-Whyte 2 next.

Then again Whyte may duck yet another direct title shot.

Easy "mismatch" defense are the ones that blow up in your face not the ones that are perceived as dangerous!!

So Whyte or Wallin will be mandatory. Wallin beat Kauffman & Breazeale who are good names on the resume but I’m still not sure how good he is. Whyte takes a lot of heat here but I think he is still a top 5 guy. Not many HWs have fought the level of competition he has. Regardless of the outcome I don’t think either beats Fury or Wilder. I could see Wilder Breazealing Whyte & I think Wilder would be behind on the cards like always against Wallin then giving him the Ortiz treatment. Fury should win wide UDs against either unless he is the aggressive Fury like the 2nd Wilder fight.

You never know with the WBC regarding making an official mando, they said the interim champion must face the winner so they were slick with the wording . It’s supposed to be a final elimination bout not just for one guy .

Except that Whyte loses to Wallin.
Can't believe he was dumb enough to accept Hearn's offer to fight Wallin.

No issues at all with this. Becoming mandatory challenger to a belt should guarantee you a shot in twelve months imho or don’t make someone a mandatory challenged, loses its meaning. We’ve seen guys wait years on the wbc to enforce mandatory status over most divisions in fact with the exception of lw, mw, and smw which resolved themselves once that generation of fighters stopped protecting their 0

This is the second time Whyte gets to choose who he fights in a final eliminator first Rivas now wallan all while refusing to participate in two final eliminators against Ortiz. WBC is a real joke
