Usyk isn't overrated at all. He went in and executed his game plan with little resistance from AJ. Even he said it wasn't his hardest fight. Not his fault AJ was gun shy. Perhaps the Andy Ruiz KO is still lingering over his head and he's hesitant facing these shorter guys.

Alls I know is Usyk is highly skillful. He wasn't undisputed CW for no reason. Of course he's no Loma. He's a big dude. Loma is a midget in comparison so he can look flashy and move like a frikin snake. Heavyweights typically don't have that type of movement because they're so damn big and lethargic. Yet with that said, Usyk looked like a very fluid moving heavyweight because he's not "Super" heavyweight. All props to him.

He beats monsters like Gassiev in a shutout, beats a really top notch CW in Breidis in a FOTY candidate among all the others like Hunter who we've seen blossom into a solid HW and he is only just getting his props now really.

People just wanted to believe the CW division was weak when it was possibly the strongest division in the entire sport and certainly the strongest its ever been.

All fans wanted to do was nitpick and overanalyse Chisora winning 3 rounds in a matchbox.
A guy like Chisora would likely maul just about anybody in a ring that size. They was basically fighting in my damn kitchen.
Completely agree about the Cruiserweight division. I don’t get why people sh** on it. Usyk had a much harder road to undisputed than Crawford had or Canelo has. Plus Usyk was on the road when he won every single title.

The division is a breath of fresh air with the best all fighting the best and for whatever reason all the top CWs styles just seem to gel so well you can match any of them and its almost always a great fight if not a FOTY candidate.
Granted its a lot weaker now with Usyk, Hunter & Gassiev moving up and with Makabu & Breidis likely coming towards the end of their careers but there's a lot more talent up and coming. England has some decent prospects (even the domestic scene is ******ly stacked) even Australia has some bright young prospects. Quite a few olympians coming through the ranks as well so exciting times ahead.

Kamshybek Kunkabayev is a CW to watch out for, an olympic standout with wins over Jalolov, Yoka

He debuted against 20-1 fellow Kazakh Issa Akberbayev

His punches sound like hitmarkers on COD

That’s the guy who won Bronze at Tokyo right, think he lost to Torrez in the semi final. I’m sure he’s boxed one of our HW’s too, Frazer Clarke it likely would have been unless he’s been on the scene for a while. I didn’t know he was already pro, looks to be moving quickly as well.

Goulamirian gets slept on as well IMO. I think he’s the only active world champion who Ring do not rank inside their top 10. I personally think he’s the second best guy in the division behind Breidis.

That's the guy. I think he fought Frazer a few times in the amateurs.
Might be due to inactivity? I don't think he has fought since the pandemic started worryingly and is being mandated to fight Alexei Egorov (another amateur standout) for November - Not really someone you want to jump right in with after not competing for a few years.

Usyk and Joshua are both not overrated. AJ beat the most top 15 Heavyweights in the last couple years. Fury and Wilder just fought each other and avoided most other top Heavyweights. Usyk is the best cruiserweight in history and now beat the unified Heavyweight champion on the road. Usyk is the definition of a road warrior, he is the fighter that everyone would love to be, fighting the best opponent in enemy territory and beating them so convincingly that they cannot rob him on the cards. Usyk is a true P4P fighter.
If you wanna talk about overrated, 2 names come to my mind and its pretty obvious when you look at their records: Gervonta Davis and Errol Spence, both shouldnt even be in the conversation of P4P.

Yeah that’s probably why then, didn’t realise he hadn’t fought in so long. Not seen too much of Egorov in all honesty, I seen him once on a Russian undercard but he stopped the guy in a couple of rounds so I can’t really judge him off that.
