So the blueprint is to run after him all night throwing punches at air and gloves, gassing out and getting rocked?

The big problem is that Joshua hasn't got the chin, confidence in his chin, or defensive capabilities to just "put it on" Usyk.

Usyk had a bad day vs Chisora and still clearly won, not exactly a perfect blueprint. But there is one strange glitch in Usyk´s game: he seems to eat looping hooks easier than straight shots. Of course with Usyks quickness those haymakers are a bit risky, so expect to eat three straight shots to land one hook. Chisora was willing to do that, but it´s still a losing plan unless you can really hurt Usyk.

True, but with Usyk´s foot work he wont be there to lean on, not by any HW. I think AJ should stop head hunting and throw a lot to the chest and body to throw Usyk off balance, that might create some openings. Or not, Usyk wheels are ridiculous for a 220 lbs fighter.

I’m baffled… hasn’t Usyk had about 400 fights? Has anyone ever beat him by ‘putting it on him’? Are we saying this guy, in all of his fights, has never had to deal with someone just bombing forward and roughhousing all night? These guys know that Chisora already did this, he’s one of the few at HW that has some moderate success W/this approach, and it still wasn’t close.

It’s beyond simplistic. There is no strategy that Joshua can personally employ that will have him win; he may or may not be good enough for every other HW, but Usyk is the end of the road for him.

I would go as far as saying there’s possibly no strategy that ANY HW could employ that sees them win. Their only hope is either (1) tie him up all night and spoil, which of the supposed ‘big 3’ except Usyk, only Fury can actually do properly or (2) get lucky with a one-off punch.

Just chasing him round and winging punches won’t do ****, he’s well wise to it. But then again, There are actual former boxers on this forum (I’m not one) and I heard an interesting opinion from one guy round here on his approach

I have to say, I reject this notion that Joshua hasn’t got a chin, unless we’re saying that Fury (who has been knocked down and/or rocked as many times in the last 7 years as AJ) hasn’t one or Wilder (who got knocked down by Sconiers and Fury who supposedly doesn’t have fists) hasn’t one. It feels as if people can just get hurt at HW.

His bigger problem is his lack of decent head movement so he takes them flush. I’ve seen now he’s developed it a little bit and might have had better success with it against a lower tier HW than Usyk.

I think his trying to learn it is probably based on your other point re: his confidence. It’s definitely too shot to engage

Amen. Anyone leaning on his guy is going to have the fitness to stay within half a yard of him for 36 mins.

Usyk beat Chisora, but Derek gave him a tougher fight than Joshua. And almost everyone would say AJ is better than Chisora overall.

I think Usyk is the best technical boxer in the division. I think Fury would be most difficult for him to beat. He could outbox Wilder but it depends, like all with Wilder, not to get hit with a few big right hands.

Joshua is a power puncher but quite limited skills. He didn't know how to adjust, and he doesn't take a punch so well. People talk of him being able to ko Usyk, but Usyk can more likely knock him out.

Personally, I think Usyk was deliberately in 2nd gear against Chisora. Watched the fight back a few times now and he had this guy’s number
