How good was Calzaghe,or "smw Malignaggi" aka "Slapzaghe" lol?
Just wondering what everyone thinks? Is Calzaghe overrated af,or does he deserve to be considered 1 of the top 15 fighters of all time like Boxrec has him rated?
Lets analyze,he has 2 top wins over legends albeit controversial win over bhop in some's eyes & Bhop had lost twice to J.Taylor ,& RJJ was already hella washed up & had been ktfo twice in last 6 fights & 3 losses. His only other notable win was v Kessler.
So how exactly does he end up #6 or the legendary status hes given? His Wikipedia page even touts that boxrec rated him 1 of the absolute best of all time
I only saw his fights v Bhop & Jones live so I'm wondering how good was he(skillwise),was he ducked throughout his Prime?
I think Byrd got this 1 right & Calzaghe robbed Bhop by a rediculous 1 sided card (I can't see how he won by a score of 116-111,thats as bad a card as I've ever seen)

Thoughts? Did he deserve to win?
Yep he totally did enough to win , Bhop was trying to get him into a pawing rhythm with his jab and land right hands like he did to Tarver, which he did effectively in the early rounds but Calzaghe adjusted after four rounds or so and won almost all of the rounds after that, all Hopkins was doing later in the fight was try to spoil it by clinching and faking that he got hit low.
Hopkins didn't do enough to win the fight and 116-111 was the correct card.

I'll have to rewatch it,but I've heard that criticism of Bhop before about his entire career
Beat Kessler and that is it.
I thought he was gifted wins against a 43yr old B-Hop (no idea how anyone scores that for Joe unless they count hitting thin air as scoring shots) & Robin Reid who beat the hell out of him.
His resume is terrible. He spent over a decade as champion fighting woeful opposition in his hometown and ducked a whole host of fighters from Pavlik to Tarver, Glen Johnson, Roy until he was beyond shot etc etc etc
