To be fair that's a decent question. The answer is going to be no. I think that was possibly as much to do as fans wanting fury vs aj rather than the manner of the fury win. So it was more of a pro fury vs aj thing rather than an anti wilder thing

Decent answer. An all Brit showdown for undisputed IS a thing. And it's not hypocritical to say so.

It's ok to say "I really wanted to see that fight and even tho these situations are the same I am not as interested".

But to act like there is a difference is hilarious.

I would have liked to seen fury vs Joshua, More than fine with wilder vs usyk if it leads us to undisputed tho.

I agree with OP here and since everyone wants to take Arum for his word on 'it won't be a problem.' Warren and Arum both said that the reason they all signed an agreement to keep quiet on the fight was because of the arbitration and Usyk demanding his shot - there were things on both sides that could've stopped AJ-Fury from happening and they didn't want to make announcements until all that other stuff was sorted out but Hearn kept blabbing away and got the casuals' hopes up for months. Anyone who pointed out the arbitration could get in the way was called an idiot because their hero Hearn was making weekly announcements. Even when Arum publicly changed his stance and said 'AJ-Fury is dead in the water' Hearn and his merry men continued with the 'yeah but Arum said it won't be a problem' for another couple of months.

You can't now go back on it with nonsense like 'but Fury was more dominant.' It doesn't matter, Wilder had the contractual right to request a third fight regardless of how he lost which is what he did but Hearn and his fanboys completely ignored it. There's no two ways about it. So in that sense, Hearn's fan club should be in agreement if Usyk tries to bypass the rematch and go for a unification bout with the winner of Fury-Wilder 3.

I'm fine with pretty much any scenario that leads to undisputed as long as nobody has to ignore legal contracts to do so.

But, since it was a thing earlier this year I just wonder why those same fans aren't still trying to make undisputed happen with Usyk and whoever wins October 9th.

After October 9th, one way or another there will be a chance for a unification at heavyweight. Whether it's Fury or Wilder emerging victorious, there will be an immediate path to an undisputed heavyweight champion.

So I wonder...will fans demand that Usyk ignore his rematch clause with Joshua the same way they demanded that Fury ignore his contract with Wilder?

Will they argue that, because the Usyk win was so dominant and because it's highly unlikely AJ can do anything different in a second fight, for the good of boxing we should just go directly to a unification? What if the Saudis offer the same mountain of cash to Usyk and Fury/Wilder? What if Vegas or Manila field counter offers?

I need all of you who were so gung-ho for AJ vs Fury in the desert earlier this year to chime in on how you think a direct unification this time would be appropriate or inappropriate.

As you said, I'm fine with pushing for unification at all costs that don't break a contract. Not because I love contracts, but because trying to get around a contract will only create more nonsense. This batch of heavyweights, they're all in their 30s. We need the fights to happen. I'd be fine with a Joshua/Usyk rematch while the winner of Fury/Wilder fought Whyte, if that avoids arbitration nonsense, fine. But, realistically, Usyk should get the winner of Fury/Wilder out right and we should get a unification fight. Joshua, Whyte, and Wilder can fight for the right to challenge the champ. As can everyone else. We'd have a champ, folks, an undisputed heavyweight champ - and that's a big deal!

Actually, it hasn't been 3 years for Fury vs AJ.

2018 was all about Wilder vs AJ, tho Hearn made sure that wasn't going to happen.

2019 was the 100 million bogus DAZN offer, so they were still after Wilder vs AJ.

Fury vs AJ didn't really become a think til 2020, and we saw how they completely botched it.

And, they knew better than to offer step aside money to Wilder...it would have taken a record amount for him to even consider it when you account for all the previous times Hearn reneged.
