Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn Ranks Oleksandr Usyk Number Two Pound-For-Pound, After Only Canelo

Eddie Hearn considers only one boxer more deserving of the top spot on pound-for-pound lists than Oleksandr Usyk. After watching from ringside as Usyk out-classed Anthony Joshua in their 12-round heavyweight title fight Saturday night, Hearn moved Usyk up to the second position on his list. Hearn mentioned only four-division champion Canelo Alvarez, with whom Hearn's Matchroom Boxing has a promotional partnership, ahead of Usyk.

#2 is fair and it has been earned.

Usyk has proven it in the ring against top competition so he jumps over "eye test" fighters like Inoue and Crawford.

Hate to say this but I got a hunch that he’s going to be someone special since I first saw him winning Olympic gold medal in 2012. Keep on giving them hell!

Why #2 after Canelo, for gods sake? Equivalent to what Usyk just did, for Canelo, would be to move to 175 or cruiser and challenge the top dogs there and win, no?

Canelo did not do that, so how he would be ranked above Usyk? Until Canelo beats Beterbiev or Bivol, he's probably not the same level of risk taking and winning.

Not sure why Hearn says what he says, but it sounds like he has obligations towards Canelo and does not want to disrespect him. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in any division to match Usyk's dare against the top dog in heavyweight.

All this means is he had his minions read the NSB thread.

              We know Hearn.

                There's a good argument that he's #1.

As long as he's above Crawford then it's all good.

Ok so Im a bit spaced at the moment not thinking clearly but ... Canelo ?
Canelo can probably take his power and speed up to around 190lbs if he stays on his cough nutritional program
Could he hang with Usyk at heavyweight?

                    1. Kronk Fury - The greatest to ever lace them up. Wins one prime Wlad, prime Wilder, Chisora 1.0, and Chisora 4.0.
                    2. Canelo - The best Mexican of all-time. The man who Oscar is very envious of.
                    3. Gervonta Davis - **** resume, this guy will never lose.
                    4. Virgil Ortiz - I have seen enough to know he kicks Crawford's ass.
                    5. Usyk - Awesome.
                    6. Crawford - Amazing fighter but has been ducking Spence for years.
                    7. Wilder - The GOAT of single-shot power.
                    8. Teo Lopez - Took Loma to school.
                    9. Golovkin - The man is still worthy of respect.
                    10. Bieterbiev - Beast.

+ I may have forgot someone worthy, but all 10 above are elite guys. Nash out.
