I wrote off Gassiev as a top tier contender as he was schooled by Cruiser Usyk, but after tonight it's safe to say he might be able to do something at the top level. Which top heavies does he beat?

Gassiev is probably a top 10 heavyweight considering how bad every heavyweight is.

You’re viewing the past through rose tinted glasses. Today’s heavy era is good. Fury Usyk Parker Whyte Joshua. These are massive guys with skills that could hang in any era.

watch the 70s fights. Ali and Norton just hanging all over each other. Most of the fights weren’t exciting or very skillful

Fury is the only one who might do well in a different era.

Joseph Parker is absolute trash. He should have lost to Chisora, he lost to Whyte, he lost to Joshua and he should have lost to Ruiz.

Not a top 30 heavyweight in any previous era.

Whyte’s claim to fame is beating crapppy Joseph Parker, avenging a loss to a 45 year old and having deer in headlights Joshua in trouble.

Not a top 30 heavyweight in any previous era.

Usyk should have draws with Chisora and Bredis. He sucks and would have gotten destroyed in a title shot in any other era.

List some heavyweight fighters who performed at the level and style that Usyk did tonight.

That was awesome. This era is just fine.

Lol every decent heavyweight has beaten the brakes off of a loser like Anthony Joshua before.

So like, every heavyweight contender ever?

Not really, because while Usyk clearly won last night he had to work really hard for it, it took a huge amount of focus and determination to pull the fight out after some rocky middle rounds. Gassiev was an easy win by contrast, Usyk dominated him for the entire 12 rounds.

He had to survive one chin check where if it was from a 240 pound heavyweight it could have been lights out. This was the reason why I thought eventually Joshua would win but Joshua fought a ****** fight and tried to mirror the master boxer.

I think Gassiev would take out several of the current top 10.

You're massively underrating Joshua, but let's skip past that.

You couldn't see how good Usyk was? His movement, his punch selection, on the front foot against a bigger man, controlled the distance, controlled the ring, counter punching, lead lefts, clever jab, rode some decent shots and never moved from his plan.

You didn't see any of that?

Why would you watch boxing if you can't appreciate it's top division at it's finest?

In my eyes, that was the finest performance produced by any current heavyweight.

                    You don't rate it?
