Boxing is coming to grips with the immense bigotry that he surrounded the sport for a very long time. Judges simply cheat for popular Mexican fighters. This is why we have all at one time or another said that Canelo has to be damnded near knocked out for someone to beat him. They even tried to rob Mayweather of his clear victory over Canelo. The fact that so many of us have said this is because we all know that boxing is skewered this way. You can be from Mexico and literally be above the boxing rules when it comes to performance enhancing doing. It’s clear judging is biased in this area. Titles created to protect certain fighters. The wbc has become a right mess and honks of blatant corruption based on nationalism

It's strange how fighters out of the Reynoso gym never seem to be on the opposite end of all these "poor performances"

Yeah regardless of how genuine this judge is or not, I see this as a step forward.

Judges should routinely have to explain any controversial or peculiar scorecard they submit.

Right!! I know everyone has seen me post this before but boxing will be great if under one banner in America. In the 70s basketball had two leagues, the NBA and ABA. They had to merge because although they were US corporations under the guise of capitalism, competition was their worst enemy. The only way to survive was to join forces. Same thing happened to football in 1966. The NFL and AFL had to merge because two leagues were not going to thrive. Just like in 1997, the MLB had to finally accept the fact that the NL and AL had to play each other during the regular season as opposed to just the the WS because the NBA was taking over as the 2nd best sport in the US. Boxing has to realize they are at a pivotal point in its history. THEY HAVE TO MERGE! NO MORE COMPETITION!! Oscar has to get out of the DAZN deal and sign with showtime! That eliminates the 'side of the street' between GBP and PBC! ESPN and FOX have to force Al and Bob to work together or no deal with them and get the fuq off their platforms now!!

              And PBC doesn’t?

This judge is to be applauded and should win a prize for honesty and integrity. If that happened maybe it could start a trend towards more judges speaking out after performances.

He highlighted an issue that is obvious to most of us - he couldn't fucking see the damn fight properly!! Judges need to have a better view - maybe from a raised platform or on tv

I'm torn between thinking he's owning his mistake and making excuses.

Either way, boxing now has to act. 3 people with different, and limited, views of the action doesn't tally with the kind of money and risk on the line.

He's told the world what we all knew. Judges can't see **** from where they are.

Interesting that he went with the 'gave the benefit to the champion' angle. So you really do have to take the belt. That was the most surprising bit.

The reason his scorecard was so wide is because Conceicao won the early rounds. Judge scored them for Valdez though to prep for a close robbery. But Valdez came back and won the late rounds, so the corruption stands out.

We saw the same thing with Tito-DLH. I think it was Jerry Roth who gave the early rounds to Tito even when he was getting dominated. So then when Tito started dominating late on, he gave a round to DLH so his scorecard wouldn't be too wide and look so obviously rigged.

Props for admitting the mistake! WBC take notes! I don't remember an apology for sanctioning the fight, even though Valdez was using PEDs!
