i mean it definitely has been done way before. It may very well just be a fad that will fade away.
And my gosh I hope it fades away fast.

People will get tired of paying to see these guys and there aren't that many match ups that people would pay to see. Eventually they will start throwing people in there just because they have a name and people won't buy it.

People will still pay for a Tyson/Holyfield fight. Fighters that the masses know.

We've eaten shit sandwiches in boxing for years but we've also had even more great scraps that go down in the books! We're just being served a few too many "sandwiches" nowadays along with this COVID stuff.

Is it me or does it seem as though the fighters and/or their handlers actually seem silently PISSED that they have to face formidable opponents. The public demands these fights and these guys duck until they can't duck anymore...then they rock the long face when they're forced to fight big names that could pose as a threat.

Remember how long Donaire ducked Rigondeaux? How was he acting when the fight got announced? How did he fight on fight night? How many excuses did he have when he got embarrassed? Not to say Danny ducked Spence, but how did he show up in that fight?

I get it....match your guy against the least riskiest opponent and make as much money as you can before the public notices or makes too much of a fuss; however, they owe us as fans the fights we want! Maybe not every fight, but we deserve these fights because we pay for this crap monthly and/or annually.

Also, I feel Donaire pulled out the Casimero bout too because he accused Casimero of not complying with VADA and Casimero's team 'offended' his wife.
Casmiero's team clearly said they complied.
I feel Donaire didn't want to fight Casimero. If Donaire is going to be playing these games, he need to freakin leave the sport.
But Donaire can fight I respect him man. There are several examples out there too of what you are saying definitely.

I think it's losing steam now. Tyson hasn't announced another fight yet. DLH comeback didn't happen. Cotto-JMM didn't happen. Probably some retired boxer gets the call the fight a youtuber but hoping we don't see too many more of these circus fights
