It's depressing. It confirms in the public's mind that boxing is indeed finished. Like the final scene of a play where all the actors come on stage to say their final farewell. Sad.

      Ouch man.
I mean I wouldn't say Boxing is finished, maybe it is more like a silly fad that comes and goes.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

If these young guys weren't so boring and insecure, we wouldn't have the old legends sniffing around trying to mount a comeback of some sorts. And as you stated, they're having all sorts of trouble facing each other....things just "happen" and certain fights don't get made.

If networks are paying these fighters ridiculous purses to conquer the ever so long line of "TBD" fighters waiting to shock the world, then who are we as fans to complain about the legends coming back to fight? Hell, at least they're willing to face guys with names...regardless of their old ages.

My biggest question is....do these young fighters even impress the old heads anymore? I mean, seriously...when was the last time you heard legends hoop and holler about how great a prospect or contender will be? The old heads are in it for themselves "cuz the young'ns aint' doin' it right!"

We know how old heads can get when they start revisiting yesteryear and feel like they can do just as good as the pups out here. Lol

George did. He appeared on shows like Sanford and son. The media portrayal wasn’t right but that was a different generation.

Thomas may not have but he benefited from his opposition and his hometown crowd. That is also a completely different generation.

Your point about Rigo contradicts your initial point. He fought guys. He beat them. But his style is held against him.

Now if he was a loser that throws a lot, bleeds but eventually gets ktfo, he would be getting endless high profile payday fights like Gabe Rosado.

Is that really good for the sport?
I don't want boxers concentrating on "personality." I want them to focus on the craft of fighting and on entertaining us with that in the ring in 50/50 fights.

I don't care about Rigo's personality. What I care about is that he is boring as hell when he fights and doesn't try to increase his punch output or push for a KO when he is clearly the superior boxer.

Gabe Rosado is coming off arguably beating Danny Jacobs and sleeping Bek The Bully with a spectacular knockout. I don't see him as a "just bleed" punching bag, he's earned his time in the spotlight.

I think it all boils down to the best fighting the best because look at MMA.
UFC is really, really huge and a lot of people run to those events. Even BKFC, it is such a new sport in America and it is catapulting and growing so fast.
I think society definitely accepts the pro violence in sports as long as it is top competition bouts and events.
I agree. I like the way mma rewards winning with progressively better fights.

I hate that boxing seems to reward guys who will bleed and lose by ko after 9 rounds with big profile fights.

You got great points man definitely.
I still think this all sucks.
But you are right man, the young bucks aren't doing it as much as they should man. Mind you, I am enjoying the sport but at the same time I can't ignore that a lot of these young prime fighters aren't making things happen.

You are right man, but personality is a part of the formula even if it is a small degree.
But I definitely feel the same, performances in the ring is what mainly matters.

Do you think this nonsense will stop soon?

I mean, I understand they want the money but my gosh, can't they do something else?
As long as the general population pays, the schitt will continue, unfortunately.

This is a true statement as fans we should get the best against the best and near constant unification fights as many belts there is per division as far as the old heads getting theirs so be it they are nostalgic in the very least

                      Indeed.

We've eaten shit sandwiches in boxing for years but we've also had even more great scraps that go down in the books! We're just being served a few too many "sandwiches" nowadays along with this COVID stuff.

Is it me or does it seem as though the fighters and/or their handlers actually seem silently PISSED that they have to face formidable opponents. The public demands these fights and these guys duck until they can't duck anymore...then they rock the long face when they're forced to fight big names that could pose as a threat.

Remember how long Donaire ducked Rigondeaux? How was he acting when the fight got announced? How did he fight on fight night? How many excuses did he have when he got embarrassed? Not to say Danny ducked Spence, but how did he show up in that fight?

I get it....match your guy against the least riskiest opponent and make as much money as you can before the public notices or makes too much of a fuss; however, they owe us as fans the fights we want! Maybe not every fight, but we deserve these fights because we pay for this crap monthly and/or annually.
