Boxing would be much better if a loss didn't attract so much venom and mockery from fans.

So what if he lost? So what if he loses the next 20 fights in succession and still brags he's the best? He's entertaining asf to watch.

DiBella, Shelley, Al and his 2 coaches - that’s a lot of money.

They all benefited from AJ’s star power including Ruiz, Parker, Povetkin, Fury and Whyte. And since AJ lost to Ruiz and his stock has somewhat plummeted due his air of invincibility evaporating - it hasn’t been business as usual for any of them. Hence they stay postponing fights and waiting for AJ to fight before they make their next moves.
The issue here is a reflection of american society, esp the boxing fanbase.
wilder got to play off america's xenophobia and benefited from it.

as for aj, lost to ruiz in the worst way possible...

      £66m site fee
£10m a fight on his matchroom contract
£18.75m sky ppv. 1.5m sky ppv buys works out around £37.5m, usually the fighter gets around 45%, this is aj, he's getting more than that..but let's just say 50%.
paid by dazn, undisclosed, probably $30-35m like he did for the first fight, afterall that second fight prob did huge numbers.
Basically he made around $130m minimum (before fees/taxes).

that is a diff level of money man..and he hasnt even fought fury or wilder yet.

of course wealth has trickled down to feed wilder.

The entire HW div is a joke. Andy's ''title'' reign is the funniest.

They all benefitted from AJ's star power especially Wilder and Fury. Fury would probably have made decent money at least in the UK but Wilder would've never made $1million without fighting anyone without AJ. His career was built off AJ's back. And that's still the trick Fury has already started using to promote their trilogy fight that no one is interested in and in the next few weeks, they will ante it up by mentioning AJ's name everywhere.

AJ made a truckload of money off the Ruiz loss in the rematch but the loss also dented the division and killed off some of the momentum. And it's affecting everyone because the level of interest/buzz the division and boxing in general was getting before that has reduced significantly. Hence they all should've pushed for the undisputed fight to keep the buzz going. However, these people are too ****** to understand the business dynamic of the sport and they think Covid is the reason why there's no buzz. However, covid isn't going away any time soon and you have to created an organic buzz by giving the people what they want to see - not idiotic fights.

I know you want 42 yr old wlad coming off a loss to be it but if you’re a diehard boxing fan you wouldn’t hold that win in such high regard given the context.
AJ beat a prime, undefeated HW champ who beat the guy who KO'd a prime undefeated HW champ, so how can the guy who KO'd the prime undefeated HW champ be AJ's best win?

Brother Dunn please No more AJ Jibes. Just when i think I'm getting over that loss, I'm reminded

I have never heard you Overly praise or defend Wilder. Why do they think you are a Wilderlite? I definitely wouldn't put you in that category. My boy Champion4ever is definitely one but he wears that badge of honour with pride

i still think aj losing overall helped make other promoters and fighters take risks
frank warren throwing dubois in with joyce was literally because he wanted to capitalise and make dubois top boy in the uk hw scene.

personally i feel the barriers need to be removed for us to see everyone fight everyone.
the buzz would follow ie its not about bollowing the buzz like what they're doing right now

'this guy is trending right now so i need to mention his name to get more views'
if they just focused on quality first the buzz would come naturally,ti would sell itself.

aj-whyte created the buzz...honestly. my younger cousins watched may-pac and fury-wlad on my recommendations...and they moaned both times and said mma was way better.
yet, they watched aj-whyte and got into boxing because of it.

i prefer boxing when it shocks us, when the unexpected happens and that inc whyte getting ko'd like he did man. that is boxing at it's finest...you cant write that ****. seeing is believing.

bakolie vs hrgovic (if he wins tonight) is on.
what do you make of hughie fury?
