Yes we are.

There are levels to it though.

Right up to those people who complain about early stoppages, or claim that people come to see knockouts. Or go on about quitters when someone has a serious injury. Or argue a career is over after one defeat.

That's why we get padded records, mismatches, and accidents waiting to happen.

And plenty of those people are on here. Playing tough about a sport they don't have to compete in.

The sport saves more lives than it takes. But it takes more than it needs to.

I would say it was. That was Zapata's third stoppage loss in a row. Versus Houle who was undefeated. Zapata was put in there probably as a showcase opponent, to give Houle a highlight reel win.

Mind you, TKO's are rare in women's boxing. Most women have very low to even 0% KO's. Even the best ones. Shields, Braekhus, Taylor, McCaskill. They struggle to even get to 20% KO ratio, even when throwing the kitchen sink at their opponent. You have the rare women with power like Wolfe, Ali, Serrano, Christy. But more times than not, they have little KO power.

So when you see a woman getting KO'ed consecutively like that, there's a problem there with her ability to take a punch and athletic commissions might want to rethink allowing her to fight.

This is a major problem. Boxers that bleed or make action until they get ko’d get fights far too often.

Worse, the fights they get are always against top prospects who have power.

RIP.

The sport needs to stop giving boxers like this with fights and instead ban them from competing for their own good.

No no, the video I posted of her being KOd was from a fight she had in May.

I wouldn't post the video of her taking the shot that killed her.

I posted those videos to show she was brutally KO'd just a few months ago and then she was right back in with another undefeated fighter.

A diagrace to boxing, how sad.. Yvon Michelle is a scumbag sleazy POS to bring a girl who hasn't fought in 2 1/2 years and with 4 losses and stopped 3 times. The Canadian commission is a JOKE anything goes as you can see.. Everything comes back one way or another...

The problem wasn't the records. There was nothing out of the ordinary in the matchups as the other two women were at the beginning of their careers as well. The problem was age; Zapata turned pro at 14-15. She went into the ring this year twice as an 18 year old against women who were in their 30s.

Zapata had fought back in May against a woman who was 8-0, but that woman's first six opponents hadn't won a single fight. So she was coming in as an opponent, but it was not some terrible mismatch. But she was brutally KOd in that fight, the video of which didn't surface until after Zapata was in a coma. So she got KOd by a full grown adult, and then was booked to fight another undefeated woman in her 30s just three months later?

We know only now that it was just too much.

Matchups of this level happened every single day in boxing and everyone goes home safe. It's just a tragedy.

Agreed, gentlemen. Much the way soldiers rarely support war, those who have fought are less inclined to do what you mentioned. Even sparring is enough to appreciate how savage this sport can be, which is what makes it such a great sport but one requiring ethics and some degree of righteousness.

99-percent of the sport is mismatches.

It has to stop. This is what happens.

This is why I moved to watching MMA. I'm sick watching mismatches in boxing even in big cards. It's usually 4 mismatches and the main event the only one that's competitive. Then you have the top guys avoiding each other.
