  • If Floyd is rusty, does it diminish a Marquez win?

If Floyd clearly looks rusty and just off on fight night does it take away from Marquez's win?

I think it should be a two way street on this...if Floyd wins he gets credit but not FULL credit due to him fighting a smaller man at a weight he's never fought at...

And if Marquez wins he beats a great fighter although the guy hasn't seen any action in 2 years...

Only way I think I could consider giving full credit to either is if Marquez knocks Floyd out...

    Your thoughts?

Never thought of it that way. If Floyd is rusty and everyone can see it, then I think it takes a little of shine off of his win.

Well thats not Marquez' fault but people will take away some meaning from the Win
but i doubt mayweather will come in rusty i feel mayweather is going to try to make a point and marquez will be his pinata, a very live pinata though

Since we are in BoxingScene there's a big chance that the win will mean nothing. Just like when Paulie arguably outboxed Juan Diaz, BoxingScene claims that the Marquez win over Diaz has "diminished". O_o

IMO, if Marquez wins it'll be via close decision (and not a UD). A KO win seems impossible but idk.

I think the rust may last a round maybe 2...but after that the fight begins...

Floyd never shows his true craft in the first round at the elite level...

Floyd's ring rust is something that he has brought on himself.

no jmm gets full credit because he is fighting 2 weight divisions above 135 lbs.

                helll noo...

marquez gets all the credit... mayweather takes a L 4 thinkin he could beat a smaller guy... so wat if he was outta the game 4 2 years he got marquez 4 a reason...

and plus marquez is goin up in weight... 9 pounds... not 140 but skippin that and goin 144..

Does any boxer get full credit for a win now? It's always "boring", or his opponent was "weight drained", or "overrated" or "shot". I can't remember watching a big fight lately and the winner not being derided.
