Canelo's a -1000 in Vegas Sports Books. Not that I solely rely on betting odds but this pretty much tells you what to expect. Plant won't be THAT much more competitive than Billy Joe Saunders. You don't go from having lack luster performances against an aged Super Middleweight to outboxing the #1 fighter in the World for 12 rounds in a virtuoso performance (which he'll need to beat Canelo on the cards) because he's definitely not knocking Canelo out. You're going to see a gap in levels / experience by rounds 5-6.

As much as I like Plant, it's hard for me to pick him winning this one. He just hasn't had that progression since becoming a champion, he's stayed fighting the same level of guys and that hasn't helped him develop into a more complete fighter, it's just allowed him to continue to be the same guy, and he'll need different levels against Canelo. Who knows, he could have that perfect night where it all comes together for him but that's very hard for me to see happening.Comment

I guess you didn’t watch the smith fight then or are completely unfamiliar with his fighting style. Callum smith took the fight on a few weeks notice, fights hunched and never takes advantage of his height, has no jab to speak of and clearly turned up for a payday as he went on the retreat from the first bell. Plant refused the Canelo fight on short notice the first time around and is coming to win. Let’s talk about it after the fight hey as pretty sure you’ll be eating your words.Comment

Completely agree. Plant is the best person he’s faced so far at super middle by a long way. Saunders isn’t a super middle and only went up because he couldn’t get the fights at middle.
QUOTE=Fighter78;n31063925]In telling you guys RIGHT NOW....I don't know if Caleb Plant is gonna win this fight but I do know that he's gonna look better than any of Canelo's last 6 opponents......mark my words[/QUOTE]

Kovalev took the fight on short notice after almost getting stopped by Yarde and has a known booze problem plus he was winning the fight when he got stopped. His lunch resistance hasn’t been the same since Ward with his partying lifestyle. Plant trains all year round and keeps weigh and is fresh. Poor comparison.Comment

You failed to mention Callum Smith who is listed as 6'3" but is closer to 6'5" according to Eddie Hearn. I have seen some memorable upsets. Ali vs Foreman, Ali vs Liston, and Douglas vs Tyson come to mind. There will no doubt be more upsets in the future. I just do not see an upset on Nov 6, that is, unless the judges put their thumb on the scale for Plant.I think the thing a lot of folk seem to forget about Plant is just how big he is for a super middle. Fine, he’s not quite as big as Benavidez, but he’s not far off. Every time he fights he looks ripped fight night and must barely be making weight. This is what Boxrec states;
Mayweather 5’ 8”, 72” reach
Canelo 5’ 8”, 70.5” reach
Saunders 5’ 10”, 71” reach
Plant 6’ 1”, 74” reach
So yeah, Plant my not be as slick as Floyd. But he’s got 2 more inches of reach to play with and 3 more than Saunders and he’s 5 inches taller. Now tell me that’s not going to make a difference. He’s also got a far better jab than Saunders. I reckon this is going to be a close, close fight and I give Plant a reasonable chance of upsetting the odds. Not convinced with the narrative that he needs a knockout as Canelo will always win if it goes to the cards. This is Vegas, Plant’s current home town and this is PBC - Mayweather beat him on the cards even if one judge was clearly bought but that was then Golden Boy, not DAZN or free agent or wherever Canelo is currently hanging his hat.Comment

That’s the thing, Kovalev was out boxing Canelo…..that says A LOT. Plant’s going to shock the folks who just seem to dislike him for reasons other than boxingKovalev took the fight on short notice after almost getting stopped by Yarde and has a known booze problem plus he was winning the fight when he got stopped. His lunch resistance hasn’t been the same since Ward with his partying lifestyle. Plant trains all year round and keeps weigh and is fresh. Poor comparison.Comment

The judges this time around are paid by PBC. That is the way it works. The main promoter pays the judges.
Now this man here just wrote a damn good assessment of this fight and that is exactly how I see it. The questions I have are simple, can plants hands hold up? And can he keep his energy up in the late rounds. He can’t give away ANY rounds. The judges already have Canelo winning. That natural size advantage comes at a cost, plant has ZERO body fat, he is killing him self to stay at super middle.Comment

That remains to be seen and not like Plant ever risked losing his belt vs those no-hopers. At least Smith fought live dog in Ryder.
He's certainly a cream puff puncher with fragile hands to boot.Comment

I agree on all points. If Plant can't move effectively he has no chance.Comment
