    I think the thing a lot of folk seem to forget about Plant is just how big he is for a super middle. Fine, he’s not quite as big as Benavidez, but he’s not far off. Every time he fights he looks ripped fight night and must barely be making weight. This is what Boxrec states;

    Mayweather 5’ 8”, 72” reach
    Canelo 5’ 8”, 70.5” reach
    Saunders 5’ 10”, 71” reach
    Plant 6’ 1”, 74” reach

So yeah, Plant my not be as slick as Floyd. But he’s got 2 more inches of reach to play with and 3 more than Saunders and he’s 5 inches taller. Now tell me that’s not going to make a difference. He’s also got a far better jab than Saunders. I reckon this is going to be a close, close fight and I give Plant a reasonable chance of upsetting the odds. Not convinced with the narrative that he needs a knockout as Canelo will always win if it goes to the cards. This is Vegas, Plant’s current home town and this is PBC - Mayweather beat him on the cards even if one judge was clearly bought but that was then Golden Boy, not DAZN or free agent or wherever Canelo is currently hanging his hat.

Andre Dirrell fought like a frightened rabbit against Froch and history shows us the correct decision was made as he carried on the same theme throughout his similarly disappointing career.

Now this man here just wrote a damn good assessment of this fight and that is exactly how I see it. The questions I have are simple, can plants hands hold up? And can he keep his energy up in the late rounds. He can’t give away ANY rounds. The judges already have Canelo winning. That natural size advantage comes at a cost, plant has ZERO body fat, he is killing him self to stay at super middle.

Plant will try to do a Mayweather clinic on him, but he's not as slick as Floyd of course. He would have to pump a stiff fast jab out though, and be accurate. Canelo has a very good defence, very effective aggression, but he has his difficulty against slick fighters.
Canelo is now a much better fighter than the one who fought Floyd. He also has gotten a lot better since the GGG fights.

Floyd Mayweather a fighter who is not regarded as a big puncher, at welterweight deterred and beat Canelo Alvarez 12- 0 - 12 - 1 easy.

As great as Floyd Mayweather is, Carl Froch, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Kopkins, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank Senior any top elite level middle weight from the 90's and early 2000's would most likely beat him.

At no point in history other than now, would Alvarez be able to yoyo up and down the weight divisions and pick fights 'Like a kid picking candy out of a sweet shop'.

The middle weight divisions are way way below par, full of fighters who are just not all-time great in terms of ability.

Canelo Alvarez to is credit, is exploiting them all.

Carl Froch would go through Alvarez as if he was made of paper mache, there would be a point in the fight where he just goes straight through hiim etc.

Note: Alvarez has got bigger since he fought Mayweather, but I don't think he has technically got any better. It is pretty clear that his movement is even worst now, than it was then.

Yea and Callum Smith had an 8" reach on canelo with his 78" reach, Howd that work out for him??? LMAO . Plant could have a 90" reach it wont matter, fact of the matter is Canelo is an elite fighter that is levels above this poser plant.

I always said Plant has the style to trouble Canelo. Lately, he’s sat in the pocket too much for my liking however. If he uses his legs a little bit more, he has a better chance. Keep Canelo on the outside.

I wasn’t sold on Plant early on when he was a contender, but he’s won me over in the past few years.

I think Plants better than a lot of people realize.
