I don't believe for one second that Jermall had set out to rob the place and steal free drinks. If he had the money on him he would have gladly paid them. What probably happened is that tempers flared and it frightened both the waitress and the managers. If Mall would have kept calm. I am pretty sure they would have given him sufficient enough time in order to pay that establishment.
