  • Comments Thread For: Caleb Plant: Don't Be Surprised If It's Easier Than Y'all Think Against Canelo

LAS VEGAS - The brighter the lights, the better Caleb Plant promises he will perform. Boxing's spotlight will never be brighter for the unbeaten IBF super middleweight champion than the night of November 6. Plant assured a small group of reporters prior to the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas pay-per-view show Saturday night that he'll handle his showdown with Canelo Alvarez accordingly.

Well, either he performs similar to Saunders, or he's much better, and is slicker than Lara, closer to Mayweather.

He hasn't fought a high level of opposition, but he's very slick, from what we've seen.

I think Plant is a more difficult opponent to figure out than Benavidez. Canelo has a tough puzzle to solve. Hope the fight happens this year, no covid positives and injuries etc.

Only if Plant runs, pot shots and hugs the entire fight. He is overrated, Beanvidez has challenged him many times, even insulting him but PBC and him donpt want to lose or his " momentum " will decrease immediatelly among his few fans. Plant is lucky to fight Canelo since his win by decision in a close fight vs Uzcategui, because he has fought three tomato cans in a row and has kept the belt hostage.

It is indeed easy: you box nicely, until a body shot cuts you into two halves.

I won't be surprised. Caleb is bigger, younger, and faster. Easy work for plant.

Just think about the psyche of fighters getting a $10mil check from Canelo. “Fugg it, I funna talk shet and make the most out of it! Better than being quiet, humble, and still getting my ass kicked!”

Canelo KO in 7. BJS was a slicker fighter and more proven than Plant.

Plant has been touched by much lesser opponents and his offense/defense have hardly held up against those guys.

As Mayweather said, "it looks different from the outside".

I'd be very surprised if Plant wins, and I like Plant. I don't think stylistically you beat Canelo by being at range and trying to stick and move, Mayweather was able to do so because he was just levels better. If you want to beat Canelo you gotta have a chin and just press him (ala GGG 1).

What many don’t understand is why boxers do mitt work, or see how elites respond on the mitts. Twitch, intuition, ring IQ is what separates elites from non elites. Plant May look nice against non elites or no-names, and that’s because they’re not intuitive counter punchers or know what’s happening in those seconds. Whatever you like from Plant, expect a fighter like Canelo to read it at close range and counter. That’s when Plant feels that power and the game changes.
