Future stars will want to go the Pac route to be icon of boxing. Nobody wants face of boxing to be about being unbeaten, with home advantage and no rematches with excuses and not fighting who fans wanted you to and holding boxing to ransom. Can't have that as best of era. Don't want future superstars to be divas, save that for Maria Carey and Beyonce and Celina delion

Pacquiao doesn't need to demonstrate anything to anyone after all he's achieved in boxing.

The time to go is right now, and I'm pretty much sure that this is what he will do. Without comebacks.

Pacquiao always says "I fight for my people," so I say, give them one more AT HOME! Give them another "Thriller in Manila!" I'm sure he could get Amir Khan, David Avanseyan, or Conor Benn, to come to the PI, for a farewell fight with "The Legend!"

Youre playing in a sandpit claiming your dump truck is better than mine.
Mayweather is a legend in his own mind. He wants to be like Manny. Loved by people and adored by a nation.
Unfortunately, he did not step up the plate when legendary greatness calls.

History would have been kind to Mayweather if in his prime, he fought the guys that are of the same size as he was. I am talking about Cotto, plastered Marga, Mosley, Williams, Maravilla. This would have been Mayweather's Morales, Barrera, JMM if you compare to Pac's career.

Instead, he fought a ballooned 140 pounder hatton at 147 pounds which is still impressive considering Hatton was king in 140 but still is short of the legendary greatness that he was supposed to have.

Even when Pacquiao loses it's a win for boxing. The way the fans still cheered and applauded him after his win will show future boxers that it's not just about maintaining an undefeated record, but enthralling the crowds.

Trying to keep an undefeated recod, mismatches and rubbishing fighters who lose is what's killing boxing.

So you are one of these types who likes to bring up Mayweather in threads because youre bitter he never lost? Mayweather isn’t adored n his country because major sports athlete celebs are much of a muchness in the USA. Americans don’t feel the need to rally around one athlete because America literally has hundreds of athletes in the public eye.

nah. again, mayweather could have been adored had he dared to be great. unfortunately, he retired it was time show legendary greatness.
dont get me wrong, i think he is still a great fighter but he could have been an icon if he fought and beat most of the WWs in their prime.

Imagine a prime Cotto (zero losses), Monster Marga (plastered), Mosley, rangy Williams, and wonderboy Martinez. His career would have been for the ages.
