I like Plant but unless he takes a miracle pill, I can’t see him winning. Just think of all the opponents Canelo has faced. All the styles, the power, and the speed he’s encountered in his pro career. Look at his confidence in the ring. No one is beating Canelo right now at 168 because he’s more confident in the ring than he is in life. Plant will be overthinking and caught up in the lights. Love the dude but he will be looking to survive and make it less one sided. God forbid if he hurts his hand(s).Comment

Plant is a lot better than he is being given credit for BUT I don't think he's gonna win this. I think it's going to be an excellent fight and Plant is going to win some rounds but he's going to get slowed by Canelo's body work and Canelo will win it going away.Comment

I know I said BJS would beat Canelo, but honestly I had BJS winning before the stoppage, whatever that means.
Plant is a better BJS. For one, he's actually a natural 168-lber, he fought the national gloves at light heavy. He's too fast, slick, and he's barely lost a round in his life. He does have problems with stamina, but so does Canelo. I never seen Plant get marked up, he has great footwork and his hand speed is nice.
People say that GGG would give a harder fight to Canelo than Plant but I don't see it. I would see GGG vs Plant going like Roy vs Vinny paz. Plant is that much better. I think Plant will win big but the scorecards would be close, 115-113, 116-112 type.Comment

Caleb can't even beat his own meat. Canelo skull f'cks him.Comment

If Plant even makes it competitive that would be a huge shock in my eyes.
Plant has gotten touched up by people with no where near the offensive skill set, speed, or power that Canleo has. If far lesser fighters fighters can land on Plant, then Canelo, who is one of the more accurate power counter punchers in boxing can most certainly land.
Plant also appears to have only one gear which in my point of view makes it easy for him to be timed. He also has bad defensive habits where he he either won't move his legs out of range or will be lackadaisical with his guard when he is exchanging with someone. It is just that no one he has fought has had the confidence to exchange with him. Canelo is at his most confident right now and he also throws to the body which is something Caleb has not had to deal with.
The reason I see Canelo beating Plant before the final bell is the same reason I feel Benavidez stops Plant. I feel that their offense is far better than Plants defense.
Also to offer some further critique. Plant fights in a primarily defensive style and still makes errors or has lapses at times. Canelo has adopted a more offensive style since the GGG rematch and he looks better defensively than Plant while also fighting way better competition.Comment

Caleb Plant is one of those guys I can’t watch because he’s so abysmal. Stiff ass lame, scaredy cat, pitter patter boy. You think they’ll rob Canelo? I saw Caleb’s latest training footage, looks like he’s training hard to survive.Last edited by SplitSecond; 08-20-2021, 08:16 PM.Comment

I think his chances are as good as anyone in or around the divisions.
My main concern is he is predominantly left handed. He has a very good educated lead hand but his rights just pinned to his cheek and used very sparingly. He's a very good fighter but always strikes me as-if he hasn't got gears. Athletic combined with good fundamentals but I've never seen him move through gears or have to really adjust or be taken out of his comfort zone which is maybe a testament to how good he is, how bad competition level has been or maybe what we've seen is all he has or he hasn't had to show it yet, I'm not sure. Just because he hasn't had to don't mean he can't.
If he has any hope of getting a decision I think he has to do more than control his opponent looking to control pace and distance. He has to do damage or the judges aren't going to do him any favours I wouldn't have fought.Comment
