Wilders Wins Over Ortiz ,Where Does It Place In a Historical view ?

Looking at past champions who we usually grease on best wins ,Wilder only actually has that one . Ortiz was a very formidable southpaw ,decent power and was undefeated at the time in 2017/2018 . Ortiz would have been difficult opponent for many past fighters but how do, we rate him not passing a physical/ medical test before that fight ?

A win is a win but we all saw Wilder get saved by the bell and we all know Ortiz has stamina issues after mid rounds .

If Ortiz gets an actual meaningful win it could then give more credibility to Wilder but then where do we subtract the win over him that night due to his failed medical ? The problem with the whole Ortiz thing is he himself doesn’t have a solid resume to go on ,otherwise Wilder would have a great name on his resume but he doesn’t . I still think it’s a very good win wheather on luck or not I think Ortiz would beat many past top guys who weren’t 6”7 ands fast and match up better stylistically. I would rate the Ortiz win a solid one I’d say 7 out of ten which is severely hindered by a great advantage Wilder knew he had with Ortiz age .

The rematch basically went the same way with less of a good showing ,Ortiz punch count was down and looked sluggish as he did in fights after the first fight in comparison. Not going on the rematch of course Ortiz looks very shop worn since and the same old gas tank issues surfaced .

Wilder deserves credit for the win he hung in there and got some breaks with bells and extra time in between a round . But until Ortiz gets a solid win I can’t really say it’s a great win what do you guys think ? I’d rate Ortiz at his best a great win but Wilder never fought that guy ,on the night of that fight I don’t know if we can overlook a guy almost replaced by Charles Martin ,this leaves much more questions then answers.

I’d chalk the win up as one of the best against a tough southpaw though if anything but that’s about it since we don’t know how good Ortiz was when he fought Wilder ,he’s definitely not showing any top level since .

It was the start of his actual professional record.

The Stiverne fight was that went the distance and then was unfortunately ensued by lack luster match ups .

I thought the Washington fight was where he finally fought a same size guy with ok skills ,but even that fight showed what a average fighter Wilder was . In a historical view it showed how hyped up Wilder was in his win against a another hyped Ortiz . Ortiz knocks out Wilder a few fights prior to that one ands he became a bum beater after that loss .

True but I think Stiverne was actually decent in 2015 it was a big step up and Wilde’s first fight to do to UD .

Wilder couldn’t stop a healthy guy who pressed him that fight showed why Wilder took easy fight routes .

Well he certainly wasn’t in a rush to fight for undisputed against Klitschko, his own manager handler threw cold water right on it in the ring immediately after the Stiverne win .

Ortiz is an old bum. Ditto Wilder.

No significance whatsoever - just 2 overrated bums fighting for bum supremacy in bum city.

This is the type of question you ask when someone career is over. Luis Ortiz hasn’t quit fighting so we can’t answer that question.
