Boots Ennis should face Mean Machine Egis Kavaliauskas

in the WBC (however he will be bumped up once they update)Their is a lot of rumble between fans about Ortiz and Ennis.

Ortiz is on the steps of a Title Shot, Having fought quality opposition and imo he's career is just a few steps ahead of Boots Ennis who barely had his first step up fight vs a 140lbs moving up in Dejan.

I think a good way for Boots to propel his name a lil more is to beat Mean Machine better than Ortiz did it. Mean Machine is a free agent as I understand it and he is a great fighter who deserves opportunities (top rank had to let him go cause they got no welterweights to feast on).

and I dont see how some of these alphabet orgs have boots ahead on Ortiz, you dont use p4p criteria (aka eyetest) to rank divisional rankings.

    WBC
    RING WBC IBF WBO
    ORTIZ 9 4 15 1
    ENNIS 7 8 4 6

Yeah everyone with name recognition is tied up, only name out there is Thurman and Danny but Danny as I understand is all but left the 147 for 154 so only really thurman and.... I dont really like thurman attitude when names are mentioned that arent Spence or Pacquaio... so doubt that fight gets made.

Why is Egor Kavaliuskis or whatever he is called this measuring stick? That guy brings sweet F.A for any top WW.

This is what is killing boxing all these top fighters and talents fighting the same schmuck who has no chance. A glorified p*ssing contest.
Like who cares if you can beat Egor Kavaliuski faster than someone else it doesn't mean anything. Its the boxing equivalent of 5 drunks in a bar competing over the lonely, sweaty, depressed fat chick.

Boots should fight a top WW right now like a Shawn Porter who will probably at minimum take him the distance and give him a thorough examination.

For one he is a top #10 ranked fighter

For second Ennis have not faced a top 15 ranked fighter EVER.

For third this will be a great fight.

For fourth Ennis needs a step up.

Mean Machine being seen as a measuring stick is all Terence Crawford's fault.

Because that's one of the few significant wins on his record at 147 (and because Crawford is seen as #1 P4P by a few) the Kavaliuskas name has become overly inflated.

What do we get from this other than there are a ton of guys who can beat Crawfords opposition in better fashion? Which we already knew.

Sure he needs to step it up but Kava isn't all that better than Boots last opponent who at least had durability on his side.

It won't be a great fight, all you guys was saying this last week when he fought Ortiz and he didn't really do much but get beaten to a pulp. This guy is living off rocking an unmotivated Crawford.

He maybe top 10ish but there are more than 10 who would beat him.
He is only top 10 cause he keeps getting opportunities. He is arguably 1-3 in his last 4 fights and even that win he looked ****.
He'd be 1-4 if he fought Boots and that is what is going to get pointed out post fight then they will use that to say he was never a threat or a big step up which tbf, he isn't.

but this is the thing; that's all conjecture, we need tangibles, we need W's for Ennis on paper.

We can say Ennis beats this person or that person but we still have to see it and let it play out.

Ennis best win is a blown up 140lber who was dominated by a blown up 130lber and factor in that Ennis is a huge 147lber and that Dejan wasnt even a ranked fighter.... what do we have? a fighter who only passes the eye test nothing else to point to.

Egis will be Boots Ennis best opponent. Egis is a top 10 ranked fighter, Egis moves Ennis career and profile forward.

Egis is getting the fights because he's accepting fights.

Yes, Egis profile moved forward because of his performance against Crawford, Crawford is a P4P ranked fighter, whatever you think about Crawford and his reign at 147 is irrelevant because we have to look at the tangibles. Crawford is a ranked fighter, Crawford is a P4P ranked fighter and Egis was able to do some damage on Crawford, Egis also was able to do some damage on Ortiz who is a top 10 ranked fight as-well and those tangible we can point to.

I just dont see the argument for Ennis not facing Egis. "Ennis appears to be the better fighter than Egis so I don't think they should fight"

Mean Machine goes from one of Bud’s best wins to gatekeeper status.

It happens, no shame in it either. Gabe Rosado is a gate keeper and has made some very good fights and had made a living off it. Same with Jesus Soto Karass who now trains soccer moms and the sorts. Their is no shame in being a gate keeper.
