They need to get Ortiz one more fight before the end of the year. I'd target Avanesyan or Custio Clayton with eyes on a world title in 2022

I don't think Virgil is ready for Crawford. I'd like to see him in with Danny Garcia or Thurman first.

Kava was taking the head shots pretty well, but there's only so much the body can take. Ortiz pounced and made sure that Kava wasn't going to make it out of the round and potentially recover during the 1-min interim.

Fantastic test for Ortiz. He checked a lot of boxes tonight whilst also showing some vulnerability. Great fight!

Great victory for Ortiz and I am gutted for Mean Machine is really a nice guy and hard worker, one of the stand up guys in boxing imo.

One round sooner than Crawford too (good for a narrative in building up a fight, not trying to insinuate anything)

The way ortiz throws the left hook to the body is absolutely fierce. MM trained for that and caught him with that counter uppercut that hurt him. He’s def got some power. Vergil showed dog though. Probably doesn’t beat crawford but would be his best opponent to date
