  • Buatsi is a good looking contender. But if it were me I'd take some more development fights. He still gets touched up too much and needs work on fight management for 12 round fights.

Honestly the typical American "20 fights before challenging for the title" would suit him just about right. But I doubt they're going to wait that long.

    • Well Buatsi did well in the context of the fight but this is the kind of fight that gets a promoter and manager rethinking how they are going to progress a boxer's career.

Bivol, Artur and Joe are plastering Buatsi around the ring when he is at this level.

He said he got Hunter with the idea of improving his defence but I can't see improvement - lets face it, Bolot has technique but is not at all athleticand at times he landed at will. Buatsi needs to be stepped up super incrementally now and stamina needs much work.

      • Enjoyed that.

Bolotniks had no quit in him. Buatsi was blowing out of his arse after punching himself out in the 6th.

        • I like Buatsi, he's a serious contender at 175!

          • Buatsi was lucky that he was not facing someone who punched harder. He was getting tagged too cleaning too many times. He looked good overall but has to work on defense. Some tweaks should help him.

            • Both guys looked like euro bums. Garbage main event.

              • Buatsi is solid contender, but he is nowhere near world champion level. Beterbiev and Bivol both beat him easily. Smith jr. also.

                • I liked the first fight camp quite a bit, the next two felt a bit underwhelming.

As for Buatsi/Bolotniks, Joshua got the stoppage but he was touched up quite a bit by his opponent. Ricards is a tough game fighter but I didn't expect him to land quite that much. I will echo what previous posters have already said, Buatsi may want to slow his progression a bit before challenging the top levels. Perhaps a fight with Craig Richards would be ideal.

Yes, fighting the guy that lost to Bivol is a good idea. Buatsi must taste the waters before fighting Bivol.

I think Buatsi vs. JSJ would be a potential FOTY. Both are offensive minded and carry enough power for some dramatic moments, and they are lacking in the defense department.
