  • Comments Thread For: Roach On Pacquiao: Wouldn't It Be Pretty F------ Cool If A President Defends His Title?

It may only be a thought experiment, but Freddie Roach can't help himself from contemplating a scenario in which Manny Pacquiao not only defeats Yordenis Ugas. but goes on to become the president of his native Philippines.

If you become your country's head of state you owe it to your nation to stop wasting your time and effort on professional sports. It's already ridiculous that Pacquiao holds political office at all and still has his boxing career.

Unlike a Senator or Congressman a President is a full time job. There are no breaks available between sessions and no absentee ballots allowed. Roach is being selfish in even thinking this a possibility.

Pacquaio certainly wouldn't be voted into that office if he ever admitted considering this happening.

He ain't becoming President with this Ugas fight. The only reason he ever took either the Spence or Crawford fight was that either win was supposed to make him become President. That sh@t aint happening no more. Pacquiao fights for another 7 years until the 2028 presidential elections (apparently philippino presidents serve a single 6-year term as opposed to 4-year term here in the US with possible re-election).

Pac is not the smartest man in the world (or even the smartest boxer) but he could fight six times a year and still be a better option than Duterte.

Not a hater. Just stating facts. Hey, with 7 more years with no politics, we could possibly get 10-14 more fights out of Pacquiao.

And if he fought champions in most of those fights, we could possibly see him beating more champions than Sugar Ray Robinson. Also surpass Hopkins' record. Boom history.

Hopefully the President of the Philippines will be too busy and too dignified to competitively box. Representing the people of any entire country should be taken deadly serious and never commingled with entertainment.

What would be cool is if every politician on the planet went to jail forever.
