I think pro boxing needs to go to open scoring

The sport has become so rampant with corrupt and inept judging, that fighters consistently get robbed week after week and judges continue to get away with it. I think it's time that all fights start announcing the cards after every single round. That way at least everyone will know if a fighter is getting ****ed in real time and the fighter and their team can know that they have to go for a KO or do more. I realize not knowing the cards leads to some of the suspense of boxing, but it's archaic imo. What other sport do you not know the scores of during the game? lmao. Think this will also lead to more exciting fights in later rounds when boxers know for certain when they have to step on the gas to win a fight and whether or not it will take a KO. At the very least they should show the cards every 2 or 3 rounds, but I'd like to see this be instituted world wide across professional boxing. I think this is a change that the sport needs.

Yup. At least then we can see it in real time. I agree. The sport needs a complete and utter overhaul.

There are so many potential things that can be changed and for the better.

I agree. Corruption is too much.

Yep, then everybody knows what will be required of the fighters, no wondering if they are getting screwed on the cards or not when they appear to be way ahead. I think it would also make it more difficult for judges to be blatantly corrupt if everyone in the arena is booing their cards every couple of rounds and putting heat on them while they are still ringside. Much easier to give a ****ed up card when you can just walk away into the dressing room before they announce the scores.

            Never gonna happen.

Too much money involved with the current system.

I'm not a fan of open scoring and I don't think it will solve the problem of corrupt or incompetent judges.

I'd like to see a different kind of transparency. Either (or both) of these work for me:

                1) It doesn't take long to score a round. Have them tick boxes that denote which criteria they think the winner of the round displayed: effective aggression, defense, ring generalship, and clean punches.

                2) Allow/require judges to be interviewed by the media or require them to submit a statement explaining their card. Let them justify the reason they scored the fight the way they did.

I’m drafting a letter to the WBA right now and I encourage other posters to do the same. Maybe if enough people voice their disgust, something will happen. Boxers need to start throwing belts in the trash can too. They don’t need any belts. Stand up to the organizations who try to control the sport for money. There needs to be some type of organization to make something happen. A direct plan of action to change the sport.

Open Scoring just lets the fighters know theyre getting ****ed already. Canelo/Trout was open scoring. Didn't help one bit.
