I don’t think Canelo cares too much about the business side of boxing. If he did, he would not have the resume he has now. He cares enough where he will not allow someone to take advantage, e.g. De La Hoya.

Canelo did not have to fight Trout, Lara, or Jacobs. He did it because his critics asked him to. Canelo did have to fight Mayweather, Cotto and GGG, because fans, media, critics asked for those fights. Fans/media/critics asked for Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders too. Now I saw some people say he was ducking Plant which is hilarious. I remember when his critics were saying he would never fight Callum Smith.

Caleb Plant can have his fun in negotiations. He is getting knocked out and losing his title. This is his 15 minutes right here, in negotiations. The party is over once the bell rings.

Regardless, boxing fans complain a lot about the business side of boxing. We have a #1 P4P fighter who’s top priority genuinely seems like it is to fight the best. Not to make the most money. Canelo seems like he puts money second. It’s like first he wants the quality to be there, then the money. He is not going to fight for peanuts of course, but it seems like his fighting pride makes him want to fight whoever it is that his critics are hyping up. I think DAZN must’ve really offered him peanuts for Bivol.

Floyd had his own promotional company. He paid the purses himself. Canelo isn’t paying anyone anything. His opponents get paid by the promoter network. In this case it’s Haymon/Fox paying Plant. Canelo is not Floyd. You think DAZN would of dropped Floyd? No

Floyd has helped a lot in his hometown. And has paid for bills that didn't concern him. Genaro Hernandez is one of them.

Sure, I mean Devin Haney and his Dad are always hands on direct giving to the homeless and less fortunate too, but Canelo is levels above helping others than any boxer ever has. Dude gave a million US to Earthquake recovery in Mexico, which, when converted to peso would be a lot. And he’s always helping hospitals for kids with cancer. Dude is a people’s Champ. But because there’s a big racial divide in boxing, fans dont like that Canelo’s nationality and complexion is normal.

Hard to disagree with it and it seems every fight canelo is involved in especially someone who represents a challenge he has to try gain an unfair advantage.....it has to stop and it’s time the fighters realise without them agreeing to it canelo is pretty much stuffed .....as dazn won’t pay him big bucks to fight and neither will pbc or haymon.
canelo if he fights regularly at that weight why does he need an advantage.

I think in part B side fighters feel emboldened because they can always run to social media and have Canelo haters backing their BS narratives. For instance, when Canelo approached Plant after his scrub Feb '20 win for a May showdown, Plant turned around and shamelessly ran to social media to claim he was somehow being victimized by being offered the opportunity of a life time while crying about how he needed more time-- and yet, Canelo just nonchalantly fought with the same May to Feb turnaround. Another aspect is the pro PBC/LDBC faction props up their favored fighters and tells them they're owed the world just for having a protected 0 which makes them feel entitled to inflated retirement pay just for stepping up, otherwise they're content to continue feasting on scrubs.

Yes. Agree totally, but then he's Mexican and Mexicans are not divas. See also Barrera, Chavez and Morales for reference. Mexicans bring a stigma to their careers with promoters still treating them like cab drivers (also why Oscar downplayed his Mexican roots and rightly hated by Mexican fans).

Imo Canelo doesn't get the respect he deserves, but comparing past Asides, I never seen a guy get put in the position Canelo has.

Remember when he fought Cotto? Cotto even though he washed up dictated the negotiations, it was his way or the highway. Imagine Cotto trying that BS with Prime Manny or Floyd?

FWD now and you would think these guys would feel lucky to secure a fight with him like past Asides.

So why isn't Canelo treated like an Aside like past fighters? Why are Bside fighters so arrogant in negotiations with him?
