Is Danny Garcia a mediocre fighter?

Not going to say any names but there seems to be some people on this forum that believe that Danny G. is a mediocre fighter. This is f3ck ing ridiculous. He's a two weight world champ and gave everyone hell, besides Spence, at 147.

Mediocre? No, but just a very good not great fighter and no shame in that. Very solid resume and as you mentioned, he was close with everyone minus Spence...But he's had a few underwhelming performances against fighters he should have handled easily.

Will always love him for what he did to Matthysse though. So many bitter fans after that fight lol.

Nah very good fighter but past his best now and I can’t ever see him regaining a title at 147 or winning one at 154 tbh. You never know though.

Is he past his best? Thought he actually tried being more active last fight and he's held his own vs everyone at 147 minus Spence....Like is he past his best or guys like Spence/Thurman/Porter just better than the fighters he beat at 140? I just don't know what he can do at 154 against bigger fighters. A lot of the top fighters in that weight class don't have the strongest of chins so maybe that is his one hope?

Why that sentiment towards Matthysse? One of the most humble and exciting fighters of the past decade imo. Gave Danny hell with a broken orbital, sent Lucas to the goddamn moon(something Spence couldn't even do) and was the only fighter to ever have Provo back pedaling...always in exciting fights.

But anyways, without Dannys size advantage at 140 his GARSH wasn't nearly as potent at welterweight and his output seemed to suffer as well....I'd say great at 140...mediocre at anything above.

Garcia was a very good fighter at 140 but remember he won his 147 pound title vs Guerrero who finished 5-5 at welter.
Add to that the fact that Danny lost every time he stepped up in class at 147.
Garcia was a tough opponent at 147 but a lot tougher at 140.

I think he is, he’s not shot or anything but I think he’s pretty long in the tooth now. He’s been fighting at the top level for around 8 years and that usually takes something out of you.

I think he’d potentially win a world title against the right opponent. He could potentially beat J-Rock, Lubin, Harrison etc if they pick up a belt, but looking at the current landscape, I just don’t see him beating Castano or Charlo at 154 or Spence and Crawford at 147.

His best shot at a title versus current title holders would probably be Ugas at 147 IMO. I still think he’s the underdog in that one though.

At 140 he was a good fighter but at 147 his resume is weak and when he stepped up at 147 he lost by not throwing enough punches against Porter,Thurman and Spence which none of those were great fights as well and not being active was his downfall.

Garcia is another part time fighter just like Keith Thurman only difference is he had a stellar 140 campaign.

He was lineal king at 140. Now he's older and fighting better guys at a higher weight and still holds his own, held a belt. Mediocre is a pretty ridiculous insult.
