He needs to put those high guards up in the later rounds, he can take a punch though. Quite a heavy hitter I see almost knocked out a veteran champion.

Yeah, just found that out after i posted my reply about Donaire's dad as his trainer. Found it in another site.

      Maybe Shields or Villoria's trainer.

I know Carita is old but I think your underrating his experience and determination. Carita is a tough fight for anyone, kid fought a great fight, no major adjustments needed.

Props to the Ricans for not jumping on the "his way past his prime" excuse.

PAC was very one-dimensional in his earlier days, even when he beat MAB. But he compensated for it with a dizzying workrate

Sonsona on the other hand just looks for that one-punch, there are gonna be fighters who are not gonna be overwhelmed with his punching power alone, he needs to put work in.
He's only 19, though with only 14 pro fights. You should cut him some slack. Of course he still needs a lot of work, but on the other hand, he just won a world title. Not bad for a 19 year old with 14 pro fights.

There's been alot of disasters with having won a world-title at such a young age.

The most infamous one, was Iron Mike Tyson, heard of him. Davey Moore was destroyed by Duran, never heard from again until the news of his suicide. These two are the real tragic ones.

But, there's plenty more. Again, cong**** to Sonsona, but they need to match him up wisely from now on. And to the new champ, please get a new coach.

Agreed, it was very clear to see that Lopez had much more experience dealing with the later rounds. Sonsona barely worked the body or threw combinations. He won the fight on vigor, power and balls. Those are some good, raw essentials for a world champion but he's going to have to continue to improve. Holding onto the title is much harder than winning one.

I will probably speak to Nonito Sr. and Sonsona some time this week, should be a doozy.

Do you think Roach will be interested in putting Sansona under his wings?
