I agree,if Oscar takes his stable to that **** show to spite Hearn/Dazn, you can pretty much stick a fork in GB. DAZN is proving to be a successful app providing great content at bargain prices and can only see it getting better and better. There's always going to be snakes in the grass...Haymon/Shaefer,Hearn etc. You just gotta pick up the pieces, ask what you could've done better and correct your mistakes. Hopefully David can see the forest for the trees and realize Triller is more than likely just a flash in the pan circus show as its past content/productions has suggested.
What platform/network will Golden Boy Promotions end up?

they've got a pretty trash stable, let's be real. oscar's the cash cow there. if he can get an exhibition with shane, floyd, connor, any of those guys he will make bank.
garcia is marketable but he's not being marketed. times really have changed.Comment

People keep repeating they have a trash stable but the stable consists of:
Ryan Garcia
Vergil Ortiz Jr
Rashidi Ellis
Jaime Munguia
Joshua Franco
William Zepeda
Jojo Diaz
Zurdo Ramirez
Rincon Brothers
That is far from a trash stable. They just don't have the depth at the current moment but that's also because they don't have the budget other top promotional companies have. Give them a bigger budget and then they will be able to build on their stable.Comment

He’s going to play second fiddle wherever he lands unless it’s Triller.Comment

I agree with this. The small FNF type cards they make usually are entertaining as well.

how is that not a trash staple though? networks aren't clamoring for boxers to fill up their undercards in 2021. that's a bunch of undercard fighters on a major ppv, and maybe ryan garcia after one or even several more years of building him. and even then you need a dance partner from another stable. showtime is on its way out, abc / espn doesn't want much to do with boxing aside from massive cards. hbo has been out for years. those fighters all need the networks to give them a push and make them into stars or even decent draws, if that's even possible. i mean jo jo diaz. zurdo ramirez? jaime mungia? you reallyt think these guys have it in them to be stars or to do enough in the ring that casual fans cannot ignore them and must watch their fights? cmon dog. what they have is a decent share of the mexican / mexican american talent pool, but they are not being leveraged to get anything done outside of the shrinking boxing sphere, which is in the midst of a huge exodus of money and infrastructure now that the networks are jumping ship. the successful boxing enterprises in the future will be those who distribute their product on their own, like dazn, and it makes for a much more complicated venture and cuts out a middleman who can take up much of the slack on the distribution side. does GBP have what it takes to make and launch an app on their own. hell no. they'd need to partner with a network. therein lies the problem.Last edited by New England; 07-26-2021, 09:56 AM.Comment

IMO whoever gives GBP the most money and dates is where they go. But I think it's very unlikely they stay with DAZN too much bad blood with how they refused to honor the Canelo contract. There was also the deal GBP struck with DAZN right before the pandemic to air bimonthly local fight series. DAZN didn't honor that. They also didn't honor the MLB whiparound show or Bellator's contract. DAZN closed their US offices and laid off everybody from those offices and rebranded DAZN_USA to DAZN_Boxing. DAZN seems to be transitioning to more global content and giving up on DAZN USA region. Before the pandemic there were talks of DAZN being a player for other major American Sports rights and they had much more content to try and drive US subscriptions, that doesn't seem to be a priority anymore. Even Matchroom USA seems to be letting American fighters go and focusing on UK and global events. GBP needs more dates for their roster then 1 card a month which is what DAZN is giving them today. GBP would be smart to move to a outlet that can provide 1 big weekend card a month, 2 weekday local fight cards a month, and maybe a 1 PPV level event every 3 months. That's what they had before DAZN and what was promised to them by DAZN before the pandemic.Comment

SHO is on its way out according to who?

ESPN doesn't want to do much with boxing aside from massive cards? Have you seen some of the cards they put on?
Ryan Garcia can potentially be one of the biggest stars in boxing.
Vergil Ortiz Jr in his FIRST headline card drew a very solid gate and fights in a glamour division. Why can't he be a star?
Why would GBP need to launch an app of their own?
And again, they would have a bigger and better stable if they had a bigger budget. They are getting less than 2M per show on average, what do you expect? But either way, it is not a trash stable as you made it seem to be.Comment

GBP Last 2 Cards (Munugia vs Szermete Card and recent Diaz vs Fortuna Card) been Excellent with Vergil Ortiz vs Mean Machine coming up next which is a excellent Main Event and hopefully they try to stack that card as well. So credit to Eric Gomez, Oscar, Roberto Diaz, Javier Razo and all at GBP... just when it looked like GBP was dead after losing Canelo, they're really stepping things up even more nowComment
