The good old fashion ways have been long gone for a while, but I get what you mean. Even though I was not alive during the 1 belt per weight class era, I can still want that era back because of its simplicity. I guess there’s too much greed in boxing to go back to such an era. You have media ignoring some belts like IBO and NABO but they can’t do the same to WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF. Just recognize The Ring champ and call it a day.

To me, all the 'real' champs in boxing are disputable. Most divisions really have no clear champ, or a weak one.Last edited by BoxingIsGreat; 07-22-2021, 10:43 PM.

A division where someone like Josh Taylor has 4 belts is laughable. It screams bumcity. There's nothing remarkable about his boxing skills or anything special that he does in the ring. Crude, flailing caveman. Katie Taylor is way more skilled and charismatic than that POS.Last edited by BoxingIsGreat; 07-22-2021, 10:51 PM.

They fight for something not directly given out by the sport (IE, an impartial entity), boxers will like to fight for ''something''. By winning a trinket, it let's the sport know who is the top dog. ''Peoples'' Champ could mean many champs.

Just removing "world" from these titles would be an improvement, you're the WBC champion, fair enough, become undisputed, then you're a world champion.
Realistically its tough, they aren't going to voluntarily put themselves out of business, try and make a sanctioning body to rule them all and now you just have 6 instead of 5.
One possible path I could see it happening is if the US got a unified national commission, similar to BBBoC, then joined with BBBoC etc and formed an international association like AIBA for pros with their own rankings and mandos etc. Absolutely no incentive for most stakeholders to make this happen though.
If it were to happen it would probably be a result of a single promoter/network basically becoming a monopoly and ending up with a UFC model, the ufc belt isn't the only one, but its the only one most people care about.

As long as prospects are eager to become champion ASAP these sanctioning bodies will be around
these guys don’t care about beating the REAL champ for the title
being declared a champ is life changing for a prospect
multiple sanctioning bodies makes it easy to become a champ
