screw the belts is up to the fighters

h3ll even established fighters are eager to get their hands on a belt immediately when moving up in weight

The prestige of being a champ in one additional weight class

More belts, more boxers making money (and sanctioning bodies). Only way to cut them out is for every div to have an undisputed champ ?

how can getting rid of 8 belts per weight class be a bad thing? Getting rid of sanctioning bodies eliminates PROMOTERS. That's why sanctioning bodies are even big nowadays. That's why we are forced to watch interim championship main events that wouldn't have been been undercards on Boxing after Dark in the late 90s. Get rid of all the belts and guys like Haymon and Arum now have no pull. No pull = No fighters and paying for rankings. Then the best would have no choice but to fight the best and we would avoid having top 10 rankings with 4 and 5 undefeated fighters avoiding each other.

these guys don’t care about beating the REAL champ for the title

being declared a champ is life changing for a prospect

multiple sanctioning bodies makes it easy to become a champ
17 weight classes, 8 belts per weight class. if a fighter can't get at least ONE title today, they are truly worthless and should seek another profession.

Multiple titles per division devalues being a champ

people don’t care unless it’s a heavyweight champ

Let me ask you a question bro. If Loma and Davis were fighting in September, would you ask for belts to be involved? Nobody cares. Fighters need to make their own names and fight the fights that make the most money and legacy sense. Screw the corrupt orgs.

Yeah fighters are convinced they need belts and can’t turn one down

Last time I can think of a fighter saying F yo belt

was when Floyd rejected fighting for Shane’s strap over 10 years ago!

I'm gonna try to rate the divisional champs or no champs. I'll either mention a name or NCC (No Clear Champ):

                  Heavy: Joshua
                  Cruiser: NCC
                  Lightheavy: Beterbiev
                  Supermiddle: Canelo (very weak division)
                  Middle: NCC
                  Superwelter: NCC
                  Welter: Bud or NCC
                  Juniorwelter: NCC (very weak division)
                  Light: Davis
                  Juniorlight: Davis
                  Feather: Santa Cruz or Russell

I can keep going down, but this is enough for now. I'd be OK with NCC in all divisions.

If someone told me William Zepeda is the best lightweight right now, I'd accept it, pending a fight with Davis. Zepeda looked the definition of the word "special" in his last fight. I couldn't get enough of those special effects.

We can no longer get rid of them now, but we can try to bargain.

I suggest that the most vocal sanctioning body would offer to all existing bodies to hire someone powerful and influential with some boxing roots like Donald Trump (think of Dana White in UFC) as a chairman for all the sanctioning bodies to create uniform rules and hierarchy for all bodies.

Then once every 4 years, create a cooperated ultimate tournament, call it Mortal Kombat or whatever that will pit each champ of each sanctioning body at their respective weight. The combined prize money for each sanctioning bodies is so great that every boxer dreams on reaching this ultimate tournament once in their career. But you have to be the man--the champion of a particular sanctioning body in order to qualify to represent them. That means that only the current champions of WBA, WBO, IBF, WBC respectively is qualified to represent this ultimate tournament to determine who is going to be the spiritual king of that particular weight, but the loser of this special tournament still gets to keep their rank as a champ for their respective sanctioning body after the tournament is over (you mustn't get rid of their champ or else sanctioning bodies will never cooperate). This special tournament will be the true world cup of boxing that will run for a couple of weeks or maybe a few months in Pay Per View.

So the agenda of having a boxing champ for each sanctioning body is still there (you can't get rid of this, otherwise sanctioning bodies will never cooperate), and that makes the bargaining and cooperation easier for all the parties.

With this, boxing fans will get their true people's champ at each weight division by the end of the tournament and a much more clear hierarchy in boxing. There are no particular abhorrent change for the sanctioning bodies that will affect their income, but these 4 sanctioning bodies will become even more powerful as they try to merge into one. It's safe to say that they can bully whomever new sanctioning body wishes to enter the current boxing business. We can't really get rid of them, but we can put a halt to future addition of sanctioning bodies.
