He did look sensational against Gatti in his debut PPV but I think most of us wiser fans were all expecting him too, then on the other hand, most of us expected him to have problems with Corrales and he absolutely dominated. Definitely looked more impressive at 130 for me.
That's his best weight...130. I didn't say he had his performance at 140 but that all of his abilities were coming together. He looked made for the weight and he became more settled and understood he didn't have to move as much and picked his spots better imo.

At 130, he's literally top 3 ATG though.

He should have fought Tszyu at 140. He’d have looked great against the older version of Tszyu and it would have gave him lineal titles from 130 to 154. They were on different networks though I think. Floyd- HBO and Tszyu- Showtime.

He’s possibly the #1 at 130. I wouldn’t necessarily pick anyone against him at 130 head to head.

U really think Floyd beats Duran or Pryor at 140? Lol

You're right! Networks prevented it although it was mainly due to there not being enough money to make them collaborate. He wanted the Tszyu fight, likely because Tszyu beat Roger in addition to him being the guy at 140.

I know Duran is 1 on most ATG list at lightweight, but I do agree it would be hard to pick against Floyd there.

              Who knows? Who cares?

              Mediocre scrub fighting nobodies.

No point comparing him in fights with an atg.

Yeah I’m a big Roger fan so I wanted to see it for that reason too. I think they could have marketed that fight brilliantly with that backstory. On the other hand, beating Tszyu was what made Hatton the star he was and Mayweather-Hatton is the best fight I’ve ever been to, so it’s swings and roundabouts really.

Yeah I could see him beating Duran on points. I love Duran and dislike Floyd but it is what it is, I think Floyd would really frustrate Duran with the movement, footwork, angles etc. He’d have to be on his game though and stay off the ropes, the Floyd that showed up in the first Castillo fight wouldn’t beat a peak Duran, but if Floyd got the game plan right I see him taking enough rounds to win by decision.

The only guys I’d confidently pick to beat Mayweather are the larger welterweight greats like Robinson, Leonard, Hearns etc. As I said in my first post though, it’s always hard to pick against Floyd because he always found a way.

Great post! Big Welters with a good to great jab is the baseline to beat Floyd. No jab, no chance. That first Castillo fight definitely wasn't his best night but as you mentioned, his movement definitely would have been something for Duran to deal with.

I could imagine being at the Hatton fight, it was electric through the TV lol. I was at the Mosley fight and when he got caught in the 2nd round, the entire place stood up lmao.

                    Armstrong
                    Duran
                    Whitaker

are the guys I think could do it WITHOUT a size advantage

Armstrong had a way of making guys fight inside without pushing them onto the ropes
