Popular titles that don't matter:
Lineal - Not the title that goes back to Sullivan or pre-sanctioning body eras, not a sanctioning or promotional title either. Lineal is the most confused title in boxing. Lineal is, at this point, a nice long list of historical inaccuracies. Lineal is the title created in the 60s or 70s when the first time the sanctioning bodies split up recognition between multiple champions. Lineal is a simplifier, it's meant to be the title that goes back to pre-body era so that there can be one champion per division, but, has had plenty of body rules attached to it either by mistake, misunderstanding the past, or on purpose trying to make the title seem more attractive. Before bodies there was no ranking. Lineal is meant to be the pre-body title but to earn lineal in a vacant situation, as in there's no current lineal champion, folks will tell you the number one ranked fighter has to fight the number two. So, it's not historical but it is meant to be.
Ring - Gave birth to most the nonsense conflated with lineal. Today most people realize the Ring title isn't the lineal at least, getting them to recognize the lineal is not the traditional is another battle but the battle for Ring is over. It's just a promo title and these days basically everyone knows that.
WBC - Franchise -Created to be above the WBC title but lack WBC title's recognition. Silver- Meant to be below the WBC title, lacks recognition. Emeritus/Interim- Meant to be equal to the WBC title but lacks recognition.
WBA - Regular- Meant to be equal to the WBC,IBF, and WBO titles however it is the Super that shares the other bodies' recognition. Gold- Not even the WBA has written up official placement so it goes without saying none of the other 3 recognize that title. Emeritus and Interim- Meant to equal their Reg belt and in this case they do as the Reg is not recognized outside the WBA anymore than Emeritus or Interim is.
IBF - Interim- Unrecognized
WBO - Interim and Super are both unrecognized.
IBO - Unrecognized body/unrecognized title
