Lots of "boxing" fans on here using this to discredit Crawford. When the fight wasn't ordered, it was.... Crawford doesn't want it, he is scared, "Duckford", etc. When the fight is ordered... Crawford is cornered, Shawn Porters team forced their hand, praises for Shawn, etc.
I just don't get it. The same fans that say **** like "Spence is doing exactly what he said he was going to do, clear his side of the street and then fight Crawford" are some of the same fans ignoring the fact that Crawford said if the Pacquiao fight didn't happen he would fight Porter. This is exactly what I personally was hoping for, because I rather see this than Pac at this point in his career. Crawford without the eye test is proven and he is a top fighter. I think he is going to win this fight, but I wouldn't be surprised if Shawn made this one rough. Porter has definitely faced better competition at Welter, but I feel as though Crawford has more good wins at Welter than Shawn. I think they both want/wanted the fight and I'm glad they are both getting the opportunity.

This fight happens only if Porter truly wants it. We already know that Crawford doesn't want it and neither does Bob or Al. If Porter does want it, then he will force a purse bid in order to get it secured. Al Haymon should bid on this fight ASAP. Take Crawford off of ESPN early and have him fight on Fox PBC.Comment

... Am I the only one who notices the convenient timing of this announcement?
And I do recall people on NSB saying "Porter didn't activate the mandatory doe!"
And I specifically criticized WBO for not doing this very announcement, for months.
But don't you think it's funny that shortly before Crawford's Top Rank contract expires, NOW they threaten him?
"Bobfather" and "Whatever Bob Orders" , indeed..

I think we all know what's up here, 147lber r afraid to face each other so we have da remaining best wanting to face each other. There's nothing wrong with this fight, in fact; I'm surprised they're doing it this early. Put Mikey Garcia vs Josh Taylor coming into da 147lb, welcome him in. U also got Vergil Ortiz waiting, so watch outComment

I had no interest in seeing Manny Pacquiao fight either Crawford or Spence at 42.Comment

Terence Crawford vs Shawn Porter title fight ordered by WBO
The WBO have sent out a letter to promoters for welterweight titlist Terence Crawford and Shawn Porter, ordering negotiations for a title fight with a 30-day window to get a deal done.
Crawford (37-0, 28 KO) has been expected to face 140 lb contender Jose Zepeda, likely on Oct. 23, but this move means there’s a very strong chance Porter (31-3-1, 17 KO) will be getting a fight that has been talked about a few times, and has been given the “green light” before by PBC on Porter’s side.
If a deal isn’t made within 30 days, the bout would go to purse bid, with a minimum of $200,000, and a 60-40 split in Crawford’s favor.
The move is rather unexpected, which gives the impression that this is a fight that’s going to get done. The reports of Zepeda being Crawford’s next foe were met with about as much enthusiasm as you’d expect (very little), and Crawford and Top Rank have taken a beating from fans and media as fight after fight has gone by without “Bud” facing someone considered a top-flight contender in a division that has names.
Of course, reality has been that the names in the division have been PBC guys, but that’s started to sort itself, too. Errol Spence Jr and Manny Pacquiao will fight on Aug. 21 — Pacquiao-Crawford was also reportedly considered — and Spence has already beaten Porter and Danny Garcia, with Keith Thurman inactive for about two years now and just starting to work out again with nothing concrete in the works, it seems.
This is the best option out there for Crawford right now, and surely for Porter, too, there’s no bigger fight he can make. He’s also fought Garcia — who is planning to move up to 154, anyway — and Thurman, and Spence and Pacquiao are busy with one another.
Here’s hoping it gets done. It’s a good fight and I think everyone would welcome it.
