Charlo should fight Lara, Castano should fight GARSH, before they rematch. GARSH is essentially a bum but would bring much needed respect to Castano’s name. In a perfect world Tszyu would also get Lubin. But PBC.

        I thought unifications trumped mados?

Unification doesn’t trump mandatorys. Just ask A Juice’n J when he chose to fight Povetkin instead of wilder

It does unless there is a severe Mando over due that can sue for their shot. But at the end the sanctioning bodies can do what ever they want. The problem is that none of these guys are superstars so I don't know how much does sanctioning bodies will be willing to bend.

The thing is, Castaño fights one way. A very high output, high pressure style that will not last long. With that being said, Mell knew what to do but didn't or couldn't do it. He clearly doesn't like pressing the action in fights and he's overly reliant on his power. The thing was that it didn't bail him out, but it did just enough to give him some rounds he would've otherwise lost.

Not sure if it's a stamina thing but his output needs to increase, even it means just popping the jab more and stepping around and not going straight back to the ropes. He definitely has more to improve on but the real question is does he have the capacity to do so. I'm not so sure

Both guys are bad enough to lose the belts to some other guys in division.

If the rematch doesn`t happen really soon, it won`t matter.

Hopefully the IBF permit the rematch on the condition the IBF mandatory is fulfilled straight after

id be interested to know if Charlo and his team make this request…

It's not a rematch worthy fight really. First fight was a little above OK. Neither fighter is that good. Castano is featherfisted and nothing special. Charlo doesn't have much power or boxing skills. Two C or B- boxers that may never amount to much going forward. I can do without a rematch.

It's not easy to be an undisputed, that's why you need to do it whenever you can and get it over with. Due to mandatories it's super difficult. The mando comes quite quickly, look at Joshua for example. Having to fight mandos after mandos until he can get the other beltholder to fight him. Hopefully they can get it done after one or two mandos.
