          The fundamental quesion is this:

Is Manny beating "the best version" of these fighters? You get no argument about Hatton because Ricky fought at 140, his self-proclaimed best weight. Delahoya was clearly at a weight he should not have fought at. Whether he handled his cutdown process poorly or not.

I was at the Delahoya/Trinidad weigh-in. Oscar had trouble making that weight way back then. So to ask him to turn back the clock in his mid-30's is not a reasonable prospect. Still, manny beat the man who was in front of him, so props to MP.

145 may or may not be the best version of Cotto. I don't know. I do know that Cotto was dying to make weight at 140, and his punch resistance is now MUCH better. The guy who got badly rocked by Corley and Torres at 140 has gobbled punches from Mosley and Margarito at 147. I would be more settled if Pac took this fight at 147. Just like I would be more settled if Mayweather took the Marquez fight at 140.

I hope Miguel's team handles the weight issue intelligently. When i watched the Cotto-Mosley Countdown, I remember Miguel complaining about food.

Cotto is obviously the much bigger man. We all knew this the day it was signed.

Ill say the same thing I said with De La Hoya and Pac...no one is bending anyones arm to fight.
Pac wanted Cotto and knew his height, his weight, the color of his hair, the fact that he has tattoos and plenty more..lol

Pac and his people did all they could to ty and make things even and put Cotto at a disadvantage ...then he signed to fight.

Yes. oscar's team mismanaged the weight process. But Oscar hadn't made even the 147 limit in 8 or 9 years. That is essentially like asking Pac to fight Gamboa at 130 (or below) in his next fight.
I just checked it up to make sure. It was 145 for Whitaker-Chavez and 158 for Hopkins-Oscar bouts. 2lbs difference?

At the end of the day, no-one is holding a gun to Cotto's head with a contract in front of him and saying "sign-it!!" That means he believes he can make the weight effectively, and he's made 146 on several occassions.

And while 145 maybe not the best weight it assurdly not the worst. I can make the same argument for Pacquiao and say 147 nor 145 are good weights with Oscar and Cotto respectively when over year and half-ago Pacquiao was fighting at Super feather and Light-weights. That's a lot of weight and size to be giving away, right? Cotto is expected to ATLEAST have a 10lbs difference come fight night.

Wouldn't you want to see the best version of Miguel?
So, you only want to see the best Miguel... What about Manny? don't you think it's only fair for both fighters to fight where there are both nearly comfortable(catchweight)? We fans wants to see who's the best fighter pound for pound, that's why these fighters are pitted against each other, but after the fight is made, "some" of us starts bitchin' 'bout it(weight, belts, purse, status)... Geez... do you want to see them fight or not? I for one want to see this fight... The weight is not an issue anymore and the fight is already been signed so move on...

                    Wait.

Manny CAN come in at his best weight. Whether that's 140, 142, 145.5, or 146.99999.

If Miguel weighs 147 and Manny weighs 144, is that the worst thing in the world?

                      .
Would you please refer me to the (your) sources. Because I could SWEAR that Hop-DLH was a 160 (norm MW) fight.

                      Thank you.
