So far the consensus is that Castano should have won. Basically a robbery draw to protect Charlo.
So who won tonight? Castano or Charlo? Controversy aplenty?

It wasn't Adalaide Byrd but some Puerto Rican guy. Nonetheless his scorecard was exactly like Adelaide Byrd.Hey everyone. I missed the fight. Reading through the feedback, it seems that the feelings are very high tonight. Castano won but got screwed over? Some people calling it a robbery, and Adelaide Byrd is once again getting called out.
I'll check the replay tomorrow or later in the week, but it seems like its worthy of a discussion.
Castano won the fight pretty cleanly. Worst case scenario was a draw and that's being very biased toward Jermell who jabbed at Castano's gloves all night long.Comment

You have to watch it without being black. You won't be able to see why you're either incompetent and an idiot or too biased with your own people to objectively score a fight.
Castano won 9 rounds at best and 6 at worst. Charlo won 2 rounds cleanly and every round he "won" was close and NOT clear.Comment

Just finished watching the fight again. Contrarily to most judges, I'm not afraid of scoring a round even. There were at least four of them, including the 12th.
Castano's pressure was effective only in spots, especially in the first half of the fight, where he missed the target time and again as Jermell countered him effectively with jabs and crosses. Basically, Charlo's ring generalship was way superior in the first half, then Castano shifted gears and started putting him under serious trouble until he got caught in the 10th.
Charlo by one point on my scorecard, but the draw is fair, and a Castano win would not have been a scandal.Last edited by Tatabanya; 07-18-2021, 08:17 AM.Comment
