I think that's the norm in amateur boxing - I certainly always fought at the weight I walked around at. I was in shape, but you don't have to be in shape to fight at your walk-around weight in amateur boxing. At the lower levels especially, pretty much nobody is cutting weight.

When I fought in the ams I was still growing, just like everyone else was, and had to cut weight to stay at the division I was in. You win a regional and need to be at the weight for the bigger chances. You don’t just win a regional and wait 8 weeks or 10 sometimes and not have to watch your diet and cut. Oh yes, the good Ol’ days of sparring and running with trash bags around me. Thank the Lord that is a thing of the past. People tend to over look the weight issues. It is far easier to watch than to be the one to participate, to say the least!

His brother is dragging his feet at 160. So, that can only mean moving up to 168. Maybe taking Plant’s belt off him and setting up the unification with Canelo over his brother?

No. Just no. Boxers will generally dehydrate to the lowest class they can make without beomg affected. If jermell walked around at 155 he’d be able to dehydrate and fight at 140 & 147 EASILY.
Use common sense bro...there is HUGE names and huge fights at 140 & 147.... jermell would be fighting there in a heartbeat if he could make the weight. He can’t. I bet jermell’s walk around weight (which means when not in a training camp) is around 170.
For gods sake Crawford rehydrates from 140 to 160 come fight night and he competes 2 divisions below him lol u think Crawford is physically bigger than jermell charlo???

You are right but it’s not a definitive rule.

many fighters fight at a weight they are comfortable with, without dehydrating or losing weight.

But I think this Charlo probably leans near 160 when not fighting. He’s leaner than his brother most times anyways though. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if he really was in the 150s.

Pacquiao does zero weight loss at 147. Same as Floyd. Floyd can’t even make 154. So he was definitely fighting at 147 a comfortable 147.

Lomachenko as well. He doesn’t have to cut weight at all. He just gets sharp and in shape, then steps in the ring.

The man has unified the 154 division, is going to fight for the total unification, has looked good in every fight, says that he can make 154 easy but some here insist that he is struggling or has to move up. Boxing fans are the worst. Right now he is more accomplished than his brother.
